- About time Roadrunner signed a good band..
I love 36 Crazyfists. Every song they create is full of emotion and intensity. The guest appearances on the album are a big plus as well, IE the lead singer of Nora(one of my favorite Hardcore bands) and the lead singer of Skinlab(another great band with a new record coming out soon). Turn The Ashes makes for a great opener, while songs like An Agreement Called Forever shows off the lead singers amazing voice. Meanwhile, songs like One More Word and Slit Wrist Theory show his ability to scream with the best of them as well. I recommend any fan of Poison The Well, GlassJAw, or From Autumn To Ashes(3 of my personal favorite bands) pick this cd up, you won't be dissapointed.

- The most amazing album I have ever heard.
Well it is almost here!!! The new 36 Crazyfists album, A Snow Capped Romance is due out early 2004, although there is some confusion over the actual release date, but MTV has it slotted for February 24th. I have heard the album through a close friend, and even if it never lives up to the 36's major label debut, it's an amazing sophmore record. Here is my review for Bitterness the Star.
The guitar work, drumming, basslines and vocals all fit perfectly together to reveal a story on this album. You can sense the band's Alaskan roots as the boys pull together a worthy supersonic assault on your senses. Songs like Slit Wrist Theory and Two Months From a Year tear your heart from your chest as they explore the darker side of humanity and social aspects of life. An Agreement Called Forever is just an amazing song, followed in quick pursuit by the heavy eightminutesupsidedown. This is an amazing album. Two thumbs and ten stars. Out.

- AK Represent
I'm glad to see these guys have gotten so big. I only heard about them this year, and figured they were just big in Alaska, but reading these reviews it's clear they are fairly well-known all over. This makes sense of course, because 36Crazyfists is an awesome band, even if you hate metal and whatnot, like I do. There's something about them which makes them appealing, even if you despise bands which do nothing but scream, because there's just something more in this music than other hardcore bands. If you're gonna get one of their CDs though, get this one, not the new one, because I just picked it up yesterday and it's not NEARLY as good as Bitterness the Star. There's nothing that stands out on it, unlike the Slit Wrist Theory for this one. I've heard some good AK bands in the eighteen years I've spent all over this state, and it's nice to finally see that somebody made it big... I still wish it had been the Drunk Poets though. If anyone knows about them, you'll know what I mean.

- Alaskan Metal
This disc is absolutely amazing! These guys play some heavy, heavy emotional music, in the realm of hardcore/metal, with a softer touch. 36CF is one of the best bands I've come across in awhile, where as I can't take this out of my cd player. These guys from Alaska ROCK! Brock has some amazing vocals, some may find his unconventional sound annoying but I find it captivating. Along with Steve who does some sweet axe work on the disc. There are some killer baselines on this cd as well and some professional pounding on the drums from Thomas, these guys just sound great together. "Turns to Ashes" is a great opener that'll introduce you to Brock's vocals. "One More Word" has some sweet guitar work on it, and who could ignore "Slit Wrist Theory" this song is amazing, one of my favorites. "Bury Me Where I Fall" is heavy stuff, probably the heaviest in my opinion, with guest vocals from Steev from Skinlab, how cool is that? "Chalk White" is also a stand out song along with "All I Am" so I guess the whole cd is extremely solid, and a fine piece of work from 36 Crazyfists who are in studio now recording a new album, I personally can't wait!

- a refreshing breath from the smother scene...
this album...while not the most complicated album of the year.
is very emotional and heartfelt...in a word moving.
it will bring a tear to your eye and rock your skull...very straightforeward and raw. i really liked some of the effects on the riffs. and even though the demo version of all i am was alot better. its still an awesome song. broks vocals are an aquired taste... but you can get used to it. if you like 36 crazyfists i promise you no vocals will ever sound bad to you again. not to say brock has a bad voice... its actually really good. just a little odd. he sounds like hes going to cry, and being shaken...how the hell does that guy hold a note? anyway. this is a great album. and this band hasnt even begun to tap into their full potential. its one of the last good albums roadrunner ever released.
these guys are a little simialar to spineshank and glassjaw in a way on a different note... with some originality thrown in .
