To pay tribute to the Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap singer’s legacy — and all the music history his resilient Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bandmates achieved following his death — this weekend’s Rock List is dedicated to AC/DC songs. Tell us your favorite songs by the Aussie hard rockers, and on Monday we’ll count up the votes to

Comment of the Week This week’s launch of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith had many people suggesting other artists who should have their own versions of the game (like AC/DC and Frank Zappa), but reader Skippy had a rather outside-the-box idea: “Hey guys, did you hear the rumor that Amy Winehouse is coming out with her own Guitar Hero game? The package will include a plastic guitar as well as plastic hyperdermic needles and plastic bong. As Amy you’ll have to pretend to get high then belt out the songs afterward. Damn, I can’t wait till that one comes out.”

Report: AC/DC To Go Wal-Mart Only AC/DC have left music stores across the country thunderstruck as the Australian band’s new album, due out in the fall, will be released exclusively through Wal-Mart, the Wall Street Journal reports. The still-untitled, Brendan O’Brien-produced album will be the group’s first since 2000’s Stiff Upper Lip. AC/DC join a club currently occupied by Garth Brooks, Journey and the Eagles as artists who have made their albums exclusively available for purchase via the retail giant (in theory, at least.)

Weekend Rock List: Best ’80s Hard Rock SinglePhoto: Amary/Dalle /Retna Ltd. This week, hair metal staples Poison, stadium-rockers Def Leppard and classic power-poppers Cheap Trick announced they will be embarking on a huge arena tour this summer. In addition, alt-metal weirdos Faith No More announced that they too will be reuniting after 10 years for a trip around Europe. These four bands couldn’t be more different — Def Leppard’s Joe Elliot even takes great pains to distance himself from the frizzy locks of tourmates Poison, telling Rolling Stone, “If we’re hair metal, so are Led Zeppelin.” But all of them made great unforgettable rock singles in the Eighties. Go round and round in your mind, discern what made you feel the noize, and pour some sugar on our comments section. Tell us your pick for best hard rock single released between 1980 and 1989, and we’ll be back (possibly in black) on Monday with the results. For now, our picks: • Guns N’ Roses - “Welcome To The Jungle” • Motörhead - “Ace Of Spades” • AC/DC - “Back In Black” • Living Colour - “Cult Of Personality” • Van Halen - “Hot For Teacher”

Readers’ Rock List: Super Bowl Halftime PerformersPhoto: Kravitz/FilmMagic Last week, following Bruce Springsteen’s Super Bowl halftime performance, Rock Daily asked our readers who should take the stage during halftime of the Big Game in 2010. After more than 400 responses, the readers agreed that it was about time the Who got their due. Considering the game will be broadcast on CBS, home of those CSI shows that feature the Who as theme music, the pick makes perfect sense. Other acts making the list include the possible (Van Halen) to the impossible (Led Zeppelin) to the awesomely impossible (Guns n’ Roses.) Check out the full readers’ list below: 1. The Who 2. Pearl Jam 3. Guns n’ Roses 4. Van Halen 5. Dave Matthews Band 6. Foo Fighters 7. Red Hot Chili Peppers 8. AC/DC 9. Neil Young 10. Led Zeppelin 11. Radiohead 12. R.E.M. 13. Eagles 14. The Killers 15. AC/DC Singer Johnson Putting “Thoughts And Anecdotes” Into New BookPhoto: Miller/FilmMagic AC/DC singer Brian Johnson has something to do during downtime on the band’s Black Ice tour: The vocalist has signed a deal with Penguin Books to pen his memoirs, a collection of “thoughts and anecdotes” he’s compiled in his years as the singer of the Australian band. Don’t expect a tawdry tale like Motley Crue’s The Dirt, however, as Johnson’s 300-page manuscript will have a different tone. “I like humor a lot,” Johnson said, “and cars have been a big part of my life. I’m lucky enough that I’m able to buy some of the exotic ones. Instead of doing drugs, I did motorcars. I’m not sure which one is more expensive.” Stories in the book will likely include Johnson’s debut ride in a Concorde jet, his first auto race and that time he drove backwards for 9 1/2 miles because his gears were busted. No title or print date has been announced yet. Related Stories: • Why “Black Ice” Beat “Chinese Democracy”: The Tale of Wal-Mart Vs. Comment of the Week: The Final Word on AC/DC’s New SingleThe premiere of AC/DC’s new single “Rock and Roll Train” caused quite a stir on Rock Daily, leading to a big debate about whether Australia’s favorite sons sounded fresh and vibrant or if they were just going back to the well. But reader Felipe has the last word on all things AC/DC: “AC/DC is like The Ramones. You don’t expect them to play folk, you want them to play old AC/DC style rock and roll, and this song is a good example of that.” Related Stories: • Listen to AC/DC’s “Rock and Roll Train” • AC/DC Will Offer Multiple Covers of New Album • AC/DC’s Black Ice Gets Track List and Cover Art

Rewind: The Week in Rock Daily• AC/DC revealed some Black Ice details by announcing the new album’s track list and release date. The Aussie rockers even hung out in the Smoking Section. Meanwhile, some fans’ interpretations of the first single “Rock N’ Roll Train” left us, well, thunderstruck. If you want blood bad performances, you’ve got it. • We inched closer to the release of Metallica’s Death Magnetic with a pair of song snippets, a pair of cheap European concert dates and the premiere of first single “The Day That Never Comes.” But can Death and a bunch of other big autumn albums help save the music industry? • The music world was saddened by the passing of Dave Matthews Band saxophonist LeRoi Moore. The band started a memorial fund in his honor, Blues Traveler’s John Popper and Crash producer Steve Lillywhite paid their respects, and we dedicated a Rock List to his music. • Nestled within our Bush-bashing new issue, Ra Ra Riot, Lykke Li and Low Vs Diamond were named among the up-and-coming acts in this year’s crop of Artists to Watch.

Report: New Guns n’ Roses Song Premiering on “Rock Band 2? The New York Times reports that MTV is expected to announce today that a brand new Guns n’ Roses song will make it’s debut via Rock Band 2, the sequel to the hit video game that allows players to contribute their own guitar, bass, drums and vocals to hit rock songs. “Shackler’s Revenge,” a new track from Chinese Democracy (though not included with the recently-leaked supposedly finished tracks), will get its world premiere via the game, also suggesting that an autumn release for Chinese Democracy is inevitable. Rock Band 2, developed by Harmonix and distributed by MTV Games, will also feature songs from Rush and AC/DC, and according to a track list leaked last week may also include songs from Elvis Costello and Bob Dylan. • More Guns n’ Roses at Rock Daily

News Ticker: Green Day, Regeneration Tour, AC/DC, Big Boi After months of dodging, Green Day finally admitted that they are the Foxboro Hot Tubs. Billie Joe Armstrong revealed that the band got its name from “a place we used to sneak booze and chicks into late at night.” Eighties mainstays the Human League, Dead Or Alive, A Flock of Seagulls and Belinda Carlisle will band their ridiculous hairstyles together for the inaugural Regeneration Tour. The country-crossing affair spans from August 1st to the 29th. AC/DC is currently in the studio with producer Brendan O’Brien working on their first album in eight years says, according to Supersuckers (whose own album has been delayed as their own producer engineers for O’Brien and AC/DC). OutKast’s Big Boi is set to debut his new ballet “big” for the first of six performances tonight at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre. The rapper reportedly also plans to premiere his new solo single “Sir Lucious Leftfoot Saves the Day” to close out the evening.
