Rewind: The Week in Rock Daily• AC/DC revealed some Black Ice details by announcing the new album’s track list and release date. The Aussie rockers even hung out in the Smoking Section. Meanwhile, some fans’ interpretations of the first single “Rock N’ Roll Train” left us, well, thunderstruck. If you want blood bad performances, you’ve got it. • We inched closer to the release of Metallica’s Death Magnetic with a pair of song snippets, a pair of cheap European concert dates and the premiere of first single “The Day That Never Comes.” But can Death and a bunch of other big autumn albums help save the music industry? • The music world was saddened by the passing of Dave Matthews Band saxophonist LeRoi Moore. The band started a memorial fund in his honor, Blues Traveler’s John Popper and Crash producer Steve Lillywhite paid their respects, and we dedicated a Rock List to his music. • Nestled within our Bush-bashing new issue, Ra Ra Riot, Lykke Li and Low Vs Diamond were named among the up-and-coming acts in this year’s crop of Artists to Watch.

Fall Album Preview: Oasis Bare Their Psychedelic “Soul”Photo: Jackie Butler for RollingStone.com The fundamental sound of Oasis will probably never change — they’ll always slather Liam Gallagher’s snotty voice over piles of Beatles hooks. But Dig Out Your Soul represents the biggest boundary-push for them in their career, as the album features some epic psychedelic flourishes and songs written by band members who don’t share Noel and Liam’s surname. Rewind: The Week in Rock DailyPhoto: Sussman/Getty Kanye West had a wild week. It kicked off with a triumphant performance at the VMAs with his new single “Love Lockdown” and ended with him being cuffed and booked after a run-in with paparazzi at LAX. In between, a couple e-tailers discovered that it looks like Kanye will be releasing a new album December 16th. We were all over the VMAs with a live blog, a spot on the red carpet and a backstage pass. We also talked with Panic At the Disco, Kid Rock and Paramore, plus sat down with host Russell Brand. Oasis’ Noel Gallagher was the victim of an onstage attack in Toronto. Noel suffered rib and ligament damage, forcing the band to cancel gigs in the attack’s wake. However, they were healthy enough to teach subway riders how to play new Oasis songs in NYC today. AC/DC readied another trip down the “Highway to Hell” by mapping out the first North American leg of their upcoming Black Ice tour.
