T.I. Free On Bail, Ace of Base Reunites, Morrissey Is Not Amused T.I. is getting a temporary reprieve from prison: The judge in his gun-possession case ordered a $3 million bond for the rapper. As part of the release agreement, T.I. must be monitored during his twenty-four-hour house arrest, and is to have no contact with any witnesses involved in his federal weapons case. Illegal downloaders, rejoice? The nation of Pirate Bay is looking to resurrect the raided BitTorrent site OiNK and launch it under the new name BOiNK. Rock duo KRISTEENYOUNG has been dismissed from their gig opening for Morrissey after the lead singer, who’s also named Kristeen Young, told audience members chanting for Moz during her performance in New York that “Morrissey gives good head, I mean, er, cunnilingus …” Two mega groups from the Nineties are reforming: Europop stars Ace of Base and Aqua are both planning reunion tours. Additionally, Aqua will release a greatest hits collection, which will likely feature “Barbie Girl” and about fifteen remixes of “Barbie Girl.” Clear Channel, the much-maligned monopolizer of concert tickets, will face an antitrust class-action lawsuit from ticket buyers who claim the company jacked up ticket prices due to lack of competition in the industry.

by: BIG CED As far as the younger generation, they can take it or leave it; I'm more or less speaking to my fan base. Before there was G-Unit, Wu-Tang, Hot Boys, Terror Squad or any other group of emcees banding together to form a unit, there was the Juice Crew, arguably the most talented group of emcees put together. The group included: Mr. Magic (Sir Juice), Marley Marl, Big Daddy Kane, Craig G, Masta Ace, Biz Markie, MC Shan, TJ Swan, Roxanne Shante and Kool G Rap and Polo. VIBE got a chance to speak to Craig G (real name Craig Morgan), one of the original members of the seminal crew, about his current project with Marley Marl, the group's reunion that has already hit the road, as well as upcoming film that will tell the real story behind the legendary posse. VIBE: So, the Juice Crew is reuniting for a show in Atlanta, Georgia at the A3C Hip Hop Festival in two weeks, you, Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Marley Marl, MC Shan and Roxanne Shante will be performing for the first time in about 10 years. How does it feel to be a part of this historic occasion? Craig G: It's a great thing because crews who’ve based their whole thing on [the Juice Crew] have broken up and reunited to tour. I'm glad it's going down, but people shouldn't look at the crew like that because we were all solo artists so there was no break up situation with us. When we got down it was no expectations, just to make quality music. Think about how most people who made an impact had no idea they were while it was happening. The Juice Crew movie is currently in production, what is the story line and how much of an involvement do you and the other members have? I'm not at liberty to say what the storyline is yet. I know Marley and Kane are producers in some capacity so I'm sure I'll get to have a say in how I am portrayed [in the film]. It seems that you are quite busy these days as you and Marley Marl are reconnecting again to record an album. What brought this on and how do you

Fricke’s Picks: Dyke and the Blazers, Bob Frank and John Murry, MV & EE With the Bummer RoadArlester “Dyke” Christian, the leader and wild-funk voice of the Sixties R&B machine Dyke and the Blazers, knew a good thing when he had it. And he made the most of it, over and over, after the band’s debut single, “Funky Broadway, Part I,” hit the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967. We Got More Soul: The Ultimate Broadway Funk (BGP/Ace, U.K. import) is two CDs of almost nothing but torrid variations on the Blazers’ pimp-army strut and Dyke’s fierce, James Brown-like growling on that first record. There’s “Broadway Combination,” “Funky Broadway Time” and even a ‘67 track, “Triple Funk,” in which Dyke cites Wilson Pickett’s Top Ten cover of “Funky Broadway.” But everything here cooks hard. “So Sharp,” the dance-floor-afire jam “The Wrong House” and the Top Forty hits “We Got More Soul” and “Let a Woman Be a Woman — Let a Man Be a Man” are as rough and hot as the Godfather’s best sides at the time. We Got More Soul has every number Dyke and the Blazers cut until his death in a street shooting in 1971. And it’s all soul. World Without End (Bowstring) is all bullets, blades and guilt without end: ten murder ballads based on true crimes and written and sung by Bob Frank and John Murry. This grisly parade of violence goes back almost to the founding of the Republic (”Madeline, 1796″) and includes justifiable vengeance (”Joaquin Murietta, 1853″) as well as pure evil (”Little Wiley Harpe, 1803″). But with his low, hanging-judge drawl, Murry sounds as severe and modern as Leonard Cohen, while Frank sings with a deep, gritty authority that may remind you of Warren Zevon — if you don’t already know Frank’s solo work, including his magnificently stark 1972 Vanguard LP, Bob Frank. Tim Mooney’s production here is as antique as a sepia print — but

LISTEN UP: Honestly, Who Didn’t Own the Ace of Base Album?Brooklyn Vegan has two live Mountain Goats mp3s guaranteed to put a smile on your face, including a cover of "The Sign" by Ace of Base. Hipster Me and Nostalgia Me haven't clashed like this since the time someone poured Sparks on my Power Pad. Headphones On posts a really enjoyable track from on-and-off Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, titled "Bittersweet Bundle of Misery." Strange title, but it's fortunately still about six words shy of turning into a Panic! At the Disco song. The Punk Guy posts a bundle of mp3s from the only person who can rhyme "Tiddly Winks" with "Nipples is pink," Del the Funkee Homosapien. Besides every four year old, I mean. Woo-hoo! I've been writing this post for months and I finally have a chance to link The Bats! It took almost a year, but my music blog Bat Signal finally paid off. (Short Term MP3 Loss) Double Brooklyn Vegan linkage today, but what was I gonna do, not link Girl Talk mashing together Grizzly Bear and Clipse? I indie-ly think not.
