<p>Many bands would likely be thrilled to have the relative of a famous musician on board. In the case of Adema, counting singer Mark Chavez (the half-brother of Korn's Jonathan Davis) among its ranks often only served to pigeonhole the group, with some critics labeling the combo as no more than Korn lite. Switching both labels and vocalists, however, allowed Adema to deliver 2005's PLANETS free of any baggage. Apparently this change worked wonders, as this disc contains some of the group's strongest material and musicianship. The California combo has retained its Staind-meets-power-pop vibe, but added a wealth of other influences. The title track is more genuinely melancholy than angst-ridden, and "Enter the Cage" borrows elements from Scandinavian black metal, mixing Gregorian chant-like instrumental swells with a melodic lead-bass pattern. "Sevenfold" takes some cues from Balkan folk music, and features what sounds like a rocked-out bouzouki solo. An imaginative and progressive next step, PLANETS finds Adema coming out of a transitional period on top.

- Honestly...
Honestly the music isn't that bad, its just the fact that this is still called ADEMA that pisses us fans off. It is clearly not ADEMA anymore, not just because of the new singer, but the whole music experience is different in a whole. Not the nu-metal-ish type of thing they had going on before. They wanted to change completely it seems, which they did, but the name needed to change as well... Seems like they wanted to continue to use the title ADEMA simply to cash in on the name itself. What do you think would sell better, these 4 monkeys under a unknown name, or these 4 monkeys under ADEMA? Thats why they did it.
If you can overlook (which is very hard) the fact that this is longer the ADEMA we knew and loved, you may like this new band. But honestly as good as the music may be or could be one day, its hard not to compare to past times.

- Adema's not Adema Anymore...
I recently just purchased this cd about a week ago, and i didnt even sample the tracks or listen to it before i bought it. Im a big fan of ademas music, however i dont keep up really with the news on them and their events but it seems they changed lead singers...so i bought this cd without expecting anything different then the emoational anger that adema put out on its last 3 cds, instead after buying this cd i get a 3min intro long on every song and no originality. It Seems that the original lead singer "Marky Chavez" a strong frontman and brillant lyricalist and vocalist isnt in the band anymore...who knows why.... He was like the whole reason i loved adema was his raspy yet powerful and clear voice now they have this singer no offense to him but should be singing for the themes for the new Batman or rugrats movies. Hes a good enough singer but not for adema at all. not to run on with this, but this is a terrible cd, sorry dudes but its not worth the money or the time to sample the tracks.... Adema Aint Adema...

- Not to bad
I really like this cd, i mean i will give to you and everyone that it just isnt adema, but if you do look at it as a new bad then its really good. The lead singer as a really powerful yet a ballad type voice, it flows really good. A great new band.

- THIS IS NOT ADEMA!
I've seen Adema and this is far from it! It's a shame that Mark parted ways with the rest of the band but I guess he realized something. They suck without him! This new lead singer, who's name doesn't even deserve to be mentioned, is god-awful! This is by NO means Adema! Adema left with Mark. This is a shell of the formerly great band known as Adema. SO all you reviewers saying "the new Adema has arrived and is here to stay" are dead wrong. Adema is now a memory just like Guns n' Roses, STP, Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden, etc...

- New, intriguing, and flat out awesome.
Adema may have gotten a new lead singer and possibly a new sound, but the music hasn't faltered. They still seem incredibly focused on it and I was completely blown away by it. When I saw the CD sitting on the shelves, I was a little hesitant to buy it once I realized that they had lost members. But... it was Adema and I couldn't refuse myself. Listening to it, there is a distinct difference, but it doesn't tear away from the awesome lyrics, vocals, and music put together by this incredible band.
There are so many songs on this CD that I could not get out of my head once I started listening to it. For a couple of weeks, this was all that I could listen to. Their songs are catchy, energetic, insightful, and things I could easily relate to. Of course, nothing is perfect and this CD does have its flaws. Personally, the song "Bad Triangle" with Rio Life just... isn't something I enjoy listening to. I love Adema on their own; I don't need a rapper-thing trying to lend their talents. The band alone is talented enough... that, and I'm just not a fan of rap, period.
With this CD, the band decided on many different angles for their songs and many worked beautifully for them. I am in complete awe of their ability, not just talent-wise and music-wise, but with the fact that they could bounce back and just put together an all-around magnificent CD.
