Creed Reunite, Fans React: The Response to Stapp’s “Rebirth”Creed were one of the most talked-about bands of the ’90s — beloved by devotees drawn to their bombastic anthems, loathed by listeners who dubbed them a third-rate Pearl Jam. The Grammy winners from Florida sold 25 million copies of their three studio albums (My Own Prison, Human Clay and Weathered) before bitterly splitting in June 2004, when guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips joined singer-guitarist Myles Kennedy as Alter Bridge. And now that the band ha

Robert Plant Remains “Great Friends” With Jimmy Page, Still Plans To Do “Different Things”Photo: Mazur/Wireimage If your one wish for Christmas was a Led Zeppelin reunion tour, too bad: Robert Plant has once again reiterated that the band isn’t reuniting for a full-scale tour anytime soon. Asked for probably the millionth time in 2008 whether he’ll get back with Jimmy Page and the rest of Zep, Plant said, “I still see Jimmy quite a lot and he’s very complimentary and supportive of what I’m doing, but we are in different places now and you have to go on to do different things.” For Plant, those different things include more work with his Raising Sand partner Alison Krauss. “I’m doing very well with Alison and I’m enjoying that,” Plant said. In September he said he likely wouldn’t tour with Led Zeppelin “for at least two years,” prompting the other three members — Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham — to look elsewhere for a lead singer as the trio were eager to tour following their triumphant December 2007 concert at London’s O2 Arena. The band would not tour as Led Zeppelin — even Page’s rep has stated it can’t be Zeppelin “without the involvement of Robert Plant” — but do plan to record a new album. One of the frontrunners to take Plant’s microphone include Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy, which would in effect result in a Creed reunion tour. Jimmy Page was obviously Scott Stapp’s secret Santa this year. Comment of the Week: Stapp or Stop?Photo: Miller/Getty With Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy likely teaming up with Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham soon, it seems likely that the remainder of Alter Bridge will get back together with Scott Stapp to reform Creed. Opinion was decidedly mixed, with reader YES! declaring “I am sure the world will embrace this amazing event with arms wide open!!!!” while mikeky simply responded “has this country not suffered enough?” The gold medalist in this week’s commenting Olympics goes to Joe, who brought up a frightening reality that Rock Daily hopes never comes to fruition: “Are Kid Rock and Scott Stapp gonna do a reunion porno tape?” If there was ever a case to be made to keep Stapp away from the spotlight, that’s it. • Creed Reunion Taking Shape Related Stories: • Scott Stapp Apologizes For Throwing a Bottle at His Wife’s Head • Could a Plant-Free Led Zeppelin Work? • Album Review: Creed, Weathered

Comment of the Week: Readers Recruit Singers for Led Zeppelin 2.0Photo: Brown/Getty The readers at Rock Daily were quick to offer up suggestions when Scott Weiland left Velvet Revolver, but the reaction to the idea that Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham would hit the road without Robert Plant jump-started a torrent of new ideas (apart from the original one: hire Terry Reid). They should get the BK Burger King guy … Nobody would be able to tell the difference between the King and Plant these days,” wrote an anonymous contributor, while Thomas cheekily said “They should get David Coverdale. Just to piss off Plant.” But how can anybody argue with the logic of hogleg, who wrote “It might work if they get Sammy Hagar.” Though the band has been rumored to be working with Steven Tyler and Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy, consider this the Rock Daily endorsement for the Red Rocker. • Could a Robert Plant-Free Led Zeppelin Tour Succeed? “Led Zeppelin Are Over,” Jimmy Page’s Manager DeclaresPhoto: Rodriguez/Getty The plan for Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham to tour and record an album with a singer other than Robert Plant is “completely over now,” Page’s manager Peter Mensch tells Music Radar (a spokesperson for Page’s management firm confirmed to Rolling Stone that the Plant-less reunion is off). In what could be considered a tirade, Mensch said, “Led Zeppelin are over! If you didn’t see them in 2007, you missed them. It’s done. I can’t be any clearer than that.” Robert Plant, who will continue working with Raising Sand partner Alison Krauss, previously told fans it would two years before he’d even consider touring again with Zep, so Mensch’s announcement that the band is “over” is distressing to those willing to be patient. Thankfully, however, it looks like Creed won’t be reuniting either as plans to draft Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy — or any singer for that matter — for Plant’s spot look dead as well. Mensch admits the band auditioned some new frontmen, but “no one worked out.” “That was it. The whole thing is completely over now,” Mensch added. “There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it.” We would stop talking about it, but just yesterday Mensch was making headlines after telling BBC6 radio that the band planned to reunite with a new singer. “They decided that if they could find a singer that they thought would fit their bill, whatever their bill was at this stage in their career, that they’d make a record and go on tour,” Mensch said. Still, Mensch might not exactly be in the loop, as he responded to Jimmy Page’s possible 2009 plans, “Fuck if I know. I’m waiting to hear.” Related Stories: • Led Zeppelin Return: Reunion Show Photos • Robert Plant Remains “Great Friends” With Jimmy Page, Still Plans To Do “Different Things” • Zeppelin Members Seek New Singer
