- The best album I've heard in the last 10 years.
I have been a long time fan of Amorphis since the early Death Metal days. I knew there was something very different about the band when I first heard Tales From The Thousand Lakes. I have watched Amorphis slowly grow artistically and prove that there is more to Heavy Metal than shock value and screaming. I was very excited when I heard that Amorphis was goig to release Skyforger as I have been more and more impressed with every album since the early '90s. I'm very pleased to say this is by far the best album I've heard in the last decade at least, maybe longer. I put the CD in my player and listened from beginning to end without skipping a single track. If I had to pick two favorites they would be Highest Star (I never thought a flute would fit with metal so perfectly) and Course Of Fate (It just rocks there's no other way to explain it). If you've never heard Amorphis before this is an AMAZING example of what Progressive Death & Folk Metal should be. Beautiful melody, raw power, real feeling, and pure love of music.

- What do you play it on?
Another awesome album by Amorphis in similar vein to their two previous albums. They seem to get the growling/clean vocal balance recipe just right.I noticed that track 6:My Sun bears an uncanny resemblance to a track from one of Dark Tranquillity's albums. No sweat with that though because they're another great band too.
Something I noticed which other metal fans probably know already. This album sounded quite good on a portable device [minidisc player/stereo mode]but I played it on an old Pioneer stereo system with an old Sony full size cd player and a pair of new Athena bookshelf speakers.Boy,what a transformation in sound quality!I'm now thinking that perhaps the decline in the following of metal is caused by the portable audio phenomenon where you can no longer get to appreciate the richness of sound that you only seem to get with a home stereo system when listening to metal in particular.Forgive the digression from the album review.

- Amorous Amorphis
Well, another album from the latest line-up of this Finnish band. I was hoping for something fantastic, something memorable with great hooks both musically and vocally, and for something that would be pleasurable to my ears no matter what my mood. ..I love these guys. This album, if you can call it an album..it's more a collection of things you want to listen to. Start to finish, this one creates memories, some of which we've never had from Amorphis before.
In my oppinion, the current line-up (it's changed a few times over the years) is the best it has ever been.Don't get me wrong..there are many moments in history where former singer Pasi has taken me to fantastic worlds....but i think as a whole..the band now seems to mesh better. They are all on the same plane. My only real issue with the current state of things is the lyrics have gone downhill in a major way...But hey....I'm sure they will get better...right?
The music however..is stronger than ever! Skyforger is nothing short of amazing. Give it a few listens..and it will grow on you like a giant pair of wings.

- Fantastic Metal!
i'm listening to skyforge with a cup of joe. Amorphis new album pulls you in, energizes you, and you find yourself sitting back and listening to the majestic beauty of this metal. Quite all I can say about this gem. Beautiful and moving. Thank you Amorphis.

- One of my favorite albums
The music in this album is fantastic and unique. I was entirely entranced listening to this album. It's got a great blend of being beautiful and powerful at the same time. Because of this, I bought 3 of their albums.
I'm not a fan of the Death Metal growl, but the use it to great effect. There's a few death metal bands that make it feel out of place and almost out of touch with the guitar playing. To me, the growling mixes well with the music, and it feels like they are using it musically. It belong to those songs
These guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands.
