Art of Noise Album: “The Drum and Bass Collection”
 Description :
THE DRUM AND BASS COLLECTION contains remixes of Art Of Noise songs by DocScott (Metalheadz), Dom and Roland, ILS, Lightfoot, PFM, Seiji, J. Majik, Digital Pariah, Lemon D, Flyright and Aquasky.
<p>15 years after Anne Dudley and J.J. Jeczalik started the Art of Noise and seven years after this compilation's spiritual ancestor THE AMBIENT COLLECTION, 1997's THE DRUM AND BASS COLLECTION appeared. The disc serves to demonstrate how influential Dudley and Jeczalik's trademark montages of repeated themes and motifs, sound effects, and hip-hop-derived beats were to yet another generation of dance music pioneers.
<p>The collection's 11 remixes by such drum and bass notables as DocScott, Dom and Roland, ILS, Lightfoot, PFM, Seiji, J. Majik, Digital Pariah, Lemon D, Flyright and Aquasky tend to respect the structural integrity of the originals more than Alex Paterson and Youth's ambient experiments on THE AMBIENT COLLECTION. This is largely due to the fact that, with rare exceptions, the Art of Noise have always been primarily interested in creating insistent rhythms from unusual and exotic sources. Most of the endlessly fascinating DRUM AND BASS COLLECTION further refines this position.

- Absolute disappointment!
If you decided to check this one out for the "Art of Noise" name on it? Ruuuun away from it. I actually had to throw it away, this is how upset I was. Imagine buying new CD by J.M.Jarre to find "Metallica" on it. If you want the best remix album by "Art of Noise"? Go to "Ambient Collection".

- This is not art.
Don't get me wrong... I do like d&b remixes and I love the art of noise but this album is more noise then art. When musicians rely on drum machines to make their music sound 'cool' this is what happens. There are a couple of exceptions on this album such as opus4 & peter gunn which must have taken effort and talent to create. However for the bulk of the rest of this album.... pllease!!

- Great mixes; drum and bass for the mature enthusiasts
Eleven tracks that come from so many different directions. A tribute to Art of Noise, but so much more than just that. Check out tracks 3 and 5 for smooth, consistent grooves and beats. D&B djs; you'll fall in love with track 11. Sample it! After adding every Bukem cd that you can find, you should add this to your collection!
- Buy this for "Drum and Bass" not "Art of Noise"
Awesome downtempo drum and bass CD. An old favorite that I am happy to have reunited with. I was shocked at the number of negative reviews, which seem predominately based on the fact that it doesn't sound like 'the art of noise.' If you like LTJ Bukem and the like you're going to enjoy this.
- No Art of Noise Here!!!
I agree with most of the others. This is NOT THE ART OF NOISE. The only song that even has AON in it is "Something Always Happens". The other songs are unrecognizable. The Art of Noise are AWESOME. If you like cool remixes of Art of Noise, don't get this CD!! But since it has AON on it, it is in my collection, which I have every Art of Noise CD, album and 12" remixes made to date. HUGE FAN.
