Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell Preview Projekt Revolution Linkin Park’s annual Projekt Revolution Tour kicks off tonight outside of Boston, so Rock Daily sat down with LP’s Chester Bennington and co-headliner Chris Cornell to talk about this summer’s jaunt. “What I like about doing a touring festival, especially Projekt Rev, is the fact these are bands that I can get really excited about since I’m part of the reason they’re there. For me to be able to bring out Mindless Self Indulgence — a band that I’ve always liked and I’ve felt that they’ve never really gotten the love that they deserve — to see them show up and play with another band like Saosin and 5,000 kids are showing up at noon, just like, ‘Yes, it’s happening.’” Click below for more on Projekt Revolution (which also features the Bravery, Busta Rhymes, Ashes Divide, Hawthorne Heights and Atreyu) and check back in tomorrow for Rock Daily’s full report on opening night. • Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell Preview Projekt Revolution [Photo: Getty]

FURIOUS FESTIVALSMotley Crue and an East Coast version of Coachella are newcomersamong a host of favorite all-day rock-and-revel attractions WITH the exception of Ozzfest - reportedly downgraded to a two-day gig in Texas this year - all our favorite music festivals are back this year, plus three newly minted joints: Crue Fest, Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival and All Points West. These six cover just about every genre of pop out there, giving fans of every stripe a reason to get outside. Crue FestWild and crazy rock meets a new generation when Motley Crue headlines the Crue Fest, alongside Buckcherry, Papa Roach and Nikki Sixx's side band, Sixx:AM. What makes this a festival is the "Rock Band Second Stage Experience" - a stage tricked out with lights, monitors and killer sound and the video game "Rock Band." The audience entertains itself by playing bass, guitar, drums or vocals, battling it out to take the main stage between acts.July 8 at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater. Tickets are $35.50 to $99, with a $249 premium VIP ticket package. Projekt RevolutionDespite their nu-metal categorization, Projekt Rev founders Linkin Park opted for variety on their fifth trek out. This year's main-stagers include former grunge-master Chris Cornell, synth-rock band the Bravery and hard rockers ASHES dIVIDE. The second stage is bound to attract younger music fans, with metalcore act Atreyu, alt-metalers 10 Years, emocore Hawthorne Heights, hard rockers Armor for Sleep and the punk rock-style percussion of Street Drum Corps.July 22 at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, July 23 at PNC Bank Arts Center. Tickets are $46.75 to $76.75 at Jones Beach and $20.75 to $70.75 at PNC. On sale May 17.Vans Warped TourNot for the faint of heart - or the easily sunburned - the Warped ticket offers the most bang for your buck, with more than 100 bands performing back-to-back, 30-to-45 minute sets on 10 stages. Since set times for all bands are picked out of a hat the morning of the show, it's likely that attendees will spe

On the Charts: “High School Musical 2? Enjoys Another Week at the Top Before Kanye and 50 Arrive The Big News: Call it the lull before the storm — in the week before Kanye, 50 Cent and country star Kenny Chesney released their blockbuster records, sales for the top fifty albums were as slow as they’ve ever been. The soundtrack to High School Musical 2 stayed on top for a fourth week — the first album to reign for that long since 50’s The Massacre in 2005 — moving 164,690 units. The slow week helped Fergie jump from number five to number two, despite dropping 4 percent in sales, to 48,590, and the Hannah Montana 2 soundtrack jumped from four to three despite slumping 20 percent to 46,976. Debuts: Michigan hardcore band Chiodos entered at number five, selling 38,696 albums. The next new record doesn’t come until number forty-one, where metal quartet Every Time I Die landed. At number forty-eight, Christian act Israel & New Breed sold 11,703, and global fusion star Manu Chao debuted at seventy-one. Expect considerably bigger action in this space next week. Last Week’s Sales Heroes?: Devotion act Casting Crowns dropped from number two to four in its second week of release. Atlanta rapper Yung Joc took a bigger slide, from three to eleven. Atreyu dropped even further, from eight to twenty-nine, and Ben Harper sank from number nine to twenty-four. The Hairspray soundtrack, Now! 25, and, of course, Nickelback, remain top-ten fixtures.
