Readers’ Rock List: Self-Titled AlbumsPhoto: Michael Ochs Archive/Getty Last week, to celebrate all those eponymous LPs out there, we asked the Rock Daily readers to tell us their favorite Self-Titled Album. We counted the votes and, to nobody’s surprise, The Beatles, or the White Album as it’s lovingly referred to, stormed to the top spot, passing a pair of punk albums along the way. To see where Led Zeppelin, Van Halen and the blue Weezer landed, check out the full list below: 1. The Beatles 2. The Clash 3. The Ramones 4. Weezer 5. Led Zeppelin 6. The Doors 7. The Velvet Underground 8. Black Sabbath 9. Van Halen 10. Metallica 11. Rage Against the Machine 12. The Band 13. Sublime 14. The B-52’s 15. Franz Ferdinand

Mark Ronson on New Projects and At the Drive-In: Video Interview and Radiohead Cover Footage Mark Ronson (of Bob Dylan remix and Amy Winehouse-producing fame) and his band hit New York’s Webster Hall Friday night with a crew of special guests that included Breaking Artist Santogold. Rock Daily cornered the British musician in his dressing room to get the latest on his upcoming projects and a window into his recording process. Click above to check out the interview, plus footage of Phantom Planet’s Alex Greenwald joining the band during soundcheck for a warm-up of their cover of Radiohead’s “Just.” And keep reading for our Six-Pack Interview with Ronson, where he reveals bands he’d like to cover next (the unlikely list includes At the Drive-In). What’s the most rock-star thing you’ve ever done? I know I did something really rock-star the other day, but I can’t remember what it was. Probably drugs. Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met? Unfortunately George W. Bush, at the White House What’s on your current playlist? Richard Swift, I’m still listening to the Arcade Fire record because it’s amazing, and I like The Pipettes. When will it be time to retire? When I’m 52. What was your favorite album when you were fourteen? Appetite for Destruction. If you had to cover another song right now, what would it be? There’s good songs all the time, but I kind of wanted to do “Down In It” by Nine Inch Nails, from their first record. I like that song “Don’t You Evah” by Spoon. I wanted to do an At the Drive-In song too, but their stuff is so proggy and complicated, but I do love their first record.

Rewind: The Week in Rock Daily The Eagles nested on the cover of the new Rolling Stone. Thus, we gathered photos from the band’s thirty-five year career, penned a guide to all their classic albums and posted an excerpt from the cover story. The Eagles also flew onto the fourth installment of Guitar Hero. And you know who probably digs the Eagles? Jason Castro. We put on our business suits, as the Nine Inch Nails’ manager talked about the ever-changing landscape of the music industry, we examined how high price tickets might hurt the concert biz and analyzed how smart bands make money while CDs don’t sell. If there was a concert this week, we were there: Our cameras caught Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd at MSG, watched Death Cab For Cutie rock Providence, encountered the B-52’s at a small club in San Francisco, gothed out at the Cure’s tour-opening show in Virginia and witnessed Dizzee Rascal teach Maths & English in NYC. We were also present at the triumphant return of New Kids on the Block. Metallica mania swept over us, as the band launched “Mission: Metallica,” played a small benefit show in Los Angeles (where James Hetfield revealed new details about the new album), announced they would headline the one-day Ozzfest and Lars Ulrich told us about what the group had in store for Bonnaroo. We even dedicated a Rock List to them. [Photo: Kent/Retna]
