Kanye West Will Always Be My Homecoming Queen

Ever wonder what the Apple Ads with the dancing people would look like if all of the dancers had autism? (Ed Note: Relax. All my children will have autism.) Well, now we know, thanks to the re-re stylings of Coldplay's Chris Martin, who makes an appearance in Kanye West's latest opus, Schindler's List... I mean, "Homecoming." The black and white video for what is personally is my favorite song off of the Graduation album, is a bit of a let down, in that it's a black and white video of Kanye just sort of moseying of around Chicago, staring at himself in the giant mirrored lima bean downtown, just sorta kickin' the dirt, thinking of the olden days. Meanstwhile, Chris Martin's silhouette remains hovering in the background, doing weird jazz handy things while also providing the song's melody. OK, OK, the video isn't that bad... it's almost good. But the question remains: Is Chris Martin the Shannon "Blind Melon" Hoon of the new millennium? His floppy hand gestures suggest: Yes. Click to watch the vid after the jump.

Oooh, the new Stephen Malkmus album due out in March appears to have leaked. Or maybe he just hasn't stopped jamming since '05. (Cause = Time) Big fan of "Teenager In Love" by The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, although if I recall my own experiences, being a teenager in love sounded a lot more like Rush and ELP. (Merry Swankster) Hate Something Beautiful salutes the upcoming Breeders reunion at Coachella with an mp3 of their impossible-to-dislike single "Cannonball." No word on that Blind Melon reunion, though -- can't imagine what the holdup is... This remix of "Sister Savior" by The Rapture ought to nicely fill your "Sounds like Depeche Mode without actually being Depeche Mode" quota for the week. LISTEN UP: Who Will Save Your Soul?

Indieblogheaven posted 3 Bob Dylan tracks today, but only one of them is performed by Bob Dylan. Download The Format's cover of "Simple Twist of Fate" and just pretend that the James Blunt cover never happened. Unarocks has a dozen Christmas tracks by bands like Pearl Jam, Coldplay, Death Cab and more. Some might say that the only reason I'm mentioning that The Late Greats has 3 Jewel Christmas tracks is because I just want to post a picture of her. They'd be right. Snakes Got A Blog has a handful of covers today, including tracks by Blind Melon, Islands, Voxtrot and Metric. Finally, Said The Gramophone has a list of their Top 35 songs of the year, complete with mp3's. Get cracking.
