Bloc Party are set to tour Australia this November, hitting capital cities with their biggest shows yet! In 2007, the UK four-piece followed up their breakthrough debut Silent Alarm with the critically hailed sophomore effort, A Weekend In The City. The band returned to Australian shores for a prime slot at Splendour In The Grass, plus two headline performances in Sydney and Melbourne, both selling out in record time, leaving fans wanting more. Bloc Party’s third album, Intimacy was released last month digitally, causing a stir as it came out with just three days notice. A deluxe edition CD featuring additional tracks will be in stores on October 25th. Produced by Paul Epworth and Jacknife Lee, the new album takes the Bloc Party sound further than ever before. Triple j have recently deemed Intimacy as their Feature Album of The Week. The purveyors of indie-rock beats recently played a run of sold-out American shows and were touted as “band of the day” (DrownedinSound.com) at the recent Reading and Leeds Festivals. Recent gigs reportedly feature Kele and co. performing a healthy mix of songs from all three releases, including a rare encore of ‘She’s Hearing Voices’ plus a track dedicated to their absent bass player, Gordon Moakes, who is on extended paternity leave. Get in quick to catch Bloc Party as they step it up for Australia throughout November. The run includes the band’s first visit to Brisbane and Perth for special outdoor shows to help ring in summertime. Australian fans will also have the option to pre-order the new deluxe edition CD when they purchase a ticket online for any of the upcoming shows. Stay tuned to ticketing websites below for details. Bloc Party lost de hooggespannen verwachtingen ruimschoots in, en dat is wel het minste dat kan gezegd worden. De recentste Pukkelpop werd één grote zegetocht - door de speakers klonk een weergaloze set van een groep die al zijn duivels aan het ontbinden was. Sinds 21 augustus wordt het nieuwste album van de Britten voorgesteld op hun website. Paul Epworth en Jacknife Lee tekenden voor de productie van deze 'Intimacy'. Experimentele songs worden afgewisseld met de nog steeds unieke sound die Bloc Party enkele jaren geleden groot maakte. In 2004 werd geschiedenis geschreven met 'She’s Hearing Voices', 'Banquet' en 'Helicopter', het trio singles dat de groep de terechte wereldwijde doorbraak opleverde. Het daarop volgende debuutalbum 'Silent Alarm' (2005) werd een verzameling van hectische songs die bol staan van ophitsende gitaren en epileptische ritmes. Een ongehoord staaltje van muzikale innovatie. Intrede op de 3de plaats in de Britse hitlijst, een nominatie voor de Mercury Prize en album van het jaar voor het magazine NME – superlatieven te over voor het viertal dat blijft weigeren het etiket 'rock' te aanvaarden.
Groepsleden Kele Okereke, Russell Lissack, Gordon Moakes en Matt Tong staan garant een uiteenlopende reeks van stijlen (pop, new-wave, post-punk, indie en techno) te combineren. 'A Weekend In The City', hun tweede album, bevestigt enkel maar hun buitengewone talent. Dat loont onder andere in een plaats op het grote podium van Rock Werchter in 2007. De drijfveer naar constante innovatie levert de groep nu het derde fullalbum 'Intimacy' op. Dat verschijnt naast digitaal op 27 oktober ook op CD (limited edition !). Dat worden alvast 2 schitterende concertavonden.
