Box Car Racer: Thomas DeLonge (vocals, guitar, bass); Dave Kennedy (guitar); Roger Joseph Manning (keyboards); Travis Barker (drums).

Additional personnel: Mark Hoppus, Tim Armstrong (vocals).

Recorded at Signature Sound, San Diego, California; Larabee, West Hollywood, California; O'Henry Studios, Burbank, California.

Strictly a Blink-182 side project (featuring that band's guitarist Tom DeLonge and drummer Travis Barker), Box Car Racer doesn't stray too far from addressing the needs and concerns of the "other" band's core teen fanbase. Choosing to leave behind the toilet humor and skate-punk swagger normally associated with Blink, this outing instead goes down the road of vulnerability and insecurity that makes up the dark side of adolescence. Not surprisingly, Box Car Racer's stylistic hard-wiring features plenty of harmonies, prickly riffs, and pounding rhythms that come to the fore on the funky "And I," the hard-charging time changes of the opening "I Feel So," and the raging hardcore of "My First Punk Song."

Balancing out all this aggression are numbers where DeLonge swaps his electric guitar for an acoustic; heartfelt proclamations of love ("There Is") and the realization of life's fragility ("Letters To God"). Rounding out this self-titled debut are guest spots by Rancid's Tim Armstrong and A New Found Glory's Jordan Pundik (a chiming "Cat Like Thief"), and Blink bandmate Mark Hoppus ("Elevator"). BOX CAR RACER turns out to be an interesting visit to Blink-182's emerging serious side.

... This is the only place to get the clean copy of this great album. The explicit version has only like 5 swears in it anyway. Either way get this album!

- Excellent CD- a must have
okay, when i first got this CD, a showed it to my freinds, who are fans of Blink-182. they absolutely hated it. i didn't undersand why, but i figured its just a matter of taste. either way, after a while they warmed up to it, and the same will probably go for you too! i reccomend the songs I feel So, In the End With You, and Letters To God.

- Good, quality cd
Boxcar Racer is one of the best cd's I've ever listened to.
Their music is different and refreshing. Now, I'm not saying it's radically different, but their songs deal with different issues than most other punk-pop and punk-rock bands out there. They have a couple guy/girl songs, but these *sound* so different from other punk songs that it really doesn't matter. Travis is a totally AWESOME drummer, by the way, and he definately demonstrates this in Boxcar Racer.
My favorite songs on the cd are:
Track One: I Feel So
Track Five: Cat-Like-Thief
Track Ten: There Is
Track Twelve: Elevator
So there you have it. I urge you to buy the cd!!

This is a great CD. It has everything a punk band should have...including 2/3 of Blink 182!!!!!!!!!!! There is is the best song from my point of view and the rest are the 2nd best songs! So if you love blink 182, you'll absolutely love BOX CAR RACER!!! I love this album because it's rock and punk sort of put together. It has a slow melody as well as a fast one.
