Iceland Airwaves: The Kerrang! Blog (Part Two)Kerrang! Goes To Iceland! Thursday, October 16 Today feels like the calm before the storm. Reykjavik nights don't really kick into overdrive until the weekend, and day 2 of the Airwaves festival is characterised by gentle souls playing quiet music very, very softly. Following an ultra chillaxed afternoon at the Blue Lagoon, Iceland's most famous spa, with Biffy Clyro and crew, we head into town to be lulled by the slowly unfolding melancholia of For A Minor Reflection, four nice young men who'll soon be supporting like-minded sonic architects Sigur Ros on their European tour. The music is even quieter at NASA, where Olafur Arnalds tinkles piano alongside weeping strings. We say our goodbyes to the Biffy boys, then run into a familiar face, Porir of the excellent local hardcore band Gavin Portland, who we arrange to meet tomorrow at their gig at the Hresso cafe. In search of something les pleasant we head to Dillon, a second home for Iceland's metal kings Minus, for the quirky, effervescent art-rock of Boys In The Band. Then it's off to a 2am house party with the lovely Vicky girls, for a first listen to their debut album Pull Hard, which the band just received this afternoon. First impressions, aided by a mysterious cocktail of unidentified spirits, are very positive. The band are having an official launch for the album in Reykjavik's biggest record store at 2pm tomorrow. Time to get some sleep then... Paul Brannigan
