Café Tacuba Album: “Tiempo Transcurrido”
Description :
Producers: Gustavo Santaolalla, Anibal Kerpel, Cafe Tacuba.

Digitally remastered by Tom Baker (Precision Mastering).

The most dynamic band in the Rock en Espanol movement, Caf? Tacuba excels at creating an inventive, restless sound that draws from a wide variety of Latin music and incorporates heavy doses of alternative rock and electronica. This 2001 collection presents a well-selected overview of the Mexico City-based ensemble's first four outings, starting with tracks from Tacuba's ambitious 1999 double album, REVES/YOSOY, and proceeding in reverse chronological order to songs from the group's '92 self-titled debut.

Many of these tunes are produced by lauded Argentine musician Gustavo Santaolalla, who gives Caf? Tacuba's eclectic pop/rock experiments an atmospheric sheen (not unlike that found on Daniel Lanois's studio work), and often lends his own distinctive acoustic guitar playing to the mix. Highlights of TIEMPO TRANSCURRIDO include the propulsive "La Locomotora," a deft take on Juan Luis Guerra's hit "Ojalo Que Llueva Caf?," the funky "El Ciclon," and the gentle, breezy "Maria." While fans will likely own most of this material, the compilation is perfect for those seeking to sample the adventurous aesthetic of Caf? Tacuba.

- If you were only going to buy one Café Tacuba CD...
...then this would give you the widest choice of material. Frankly, I would recommend that if you're going to get just one Café Tacuba album, you should strongly consider getting "Re" instead-- good as though the material compiled on this album is, it is a best-of, while "Re" is a mind-blowing, carefully put together album that has to be ranked as one of the best of the past decade.

- excelent CD
After years away from mexican music, finding this CD on a shelf at the local music franchise store(Tower), BLOWED ME AWAY. How this CD puts together every song I could have ever thought of buying from "los tacubos" is magnificent! Of course being the thrifty concious shopper I am, I came here where after searching for it, purchased it. If you are looking for a good, fun, artistic cultural sound that reflects mexican culture, you're in luck ! cause you just found it. I really don't care why this CD was put together, or why there's so many good songs on it ... I just have to say, THANK YOU ! two thumbs up, WAY UP !
- wild ride
Something for everyone in this album,I never thought I could listen to Cafe Tacuba's music without seeing their wild videos at the same time but this album proved me wrong. Their music is like taking a ride with a crazy stranger.
