- This is not a joke it 's REAL deatmetal!

My favorite cc album was gallery of suide but after listening this album many times I think this one is the best.Vile and The bleeding are the best albums that Cannibal Corpse has made. This album is very brutal ,heavy and agressive.Every song is perfectly done and the riffs and lyrics are excellent. Many people think that cc is not a very technical band and say that their music has a very low quality but if you hear this cd CAREFULLY you'll find out that those opinions are not true.Vile and The Bleeding offer a very technical death-metal.Devoured by Vermin,Bloodlands and Puncture wound massacre are awesome songs. This music really deserves to be called DEATHMETAL Any deathmetal fan should have this album.

- Vile: An Album That Was Created To Kill

This is one of my favorite Cannibal Corse albums in my collection. I brought it on CD sometime in the summer of 1996. Before the release of this album, the band was going through some difficult times. Some of the problems were with their vocals Chris Barnes and his dedication to Six Feet Under which was than a side project instead of Cannibal Corpse being his main priority. So the band kicked him out but before that, he recorded a demo with the band called Created To Kill which had songs that would later become part of the Vile album. After that, the problems were still growing and Barnes was kicked out. So the band got George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher from Monstrosity. I had already heard George in Monstrosity because I had that band's Imperial Doom album and he ripped on there. So I knew that there was no problem with George vocal-killing in Cannibal Corpse. Also, the guys in Cannibal knew that they couldn't use Barnes' lyrics that he wrote for Created To Kill as well as the band's old splattering logo because it was done by Barnes. So the band had to change everything. So the band re-wrote the lyrics in a couple of weeks and recorded the album with George which would be Vile. Than, when the album came out, I brought it, took it home and listened to it and it delivered. I couldn't put it down for a week.

Now before my review, I need to bring up something very important. Before Barnes was out of Cannibal Corpse, he recorded a demo with the band called Created To Kill which would become the Vile album. A couple of years after the release of Vile, the Created To Kill demo surfaced on the internet but the content, production and tracklisting were full of error but many people still wanted to hear the demo. So right now, the demo is only available on Disk-3 of the 15 Year Killing Spree boxset which I will review latter on. So to those who want to hear the demo, buy the boxset.

Now for my review. With this album, it is a totally new direction for the band. The band members take a chance of writing the lyrics and the music also improves but everything is all-out heaviness and brutality. The production is crude and raw. So what you will hear is basically killer riffs, solos, blast beats, pounding bass, high and low vocals, fast, mid-paced and slow songs, plenty of groove, one intrimental as well as some technicality, dynamics, musicianship and progression. So you will get bassically all of the elements that make Cannibal Corpse what it is but it's all brutal and heavy and the lyrics are still as sick as ever. So no Cannibal Corpse fan will be dissappointed because this is an album that has been created to kill. Let me also not forget that this is also the last album with Rob Barrett. So he goes out with a bang here but he will be back later on to play the album Kill taking the lead guitar place of Jack Owen. So all in all, get this album. Some of my favorite songs here are Perverse Suffering, Disfigured, Bloodlands, Eaten From Inside, Orgasm Through Torture and Monolith. Buy this album and get vile.

- vile display of good music.....or is it?

Well, im a 'vile' is my first death metal album (bought it out of wonder) and i must say it is a great album. Even the simple opening to pucture wound massacre can't sway my virdict: for people who make fun of this opening, listen to the rest of the song. Plus, for people who are long time listeners to cannibal corpse: when you keep writing about the same thing over and over, it gets alittle boring, so when you look at 'vile's lyrics, just think that management was restructuring. Thats just my opinion, i could be wrong.

- One hard core death metal album

All I have to say is that I love reading the one star Amazon reviews for death metal albums like this one. The reviewers seem so mortified and religiously offended by this kind of music that it makes me want to laugh my guts out. The very fact that the Christian Right finds bands like Deicide, Cannibal Corpse and Blood Bath so offensive just makes me enjoy listening to their music that much more. This is a good album by a very skilled and technical band, buy it.

- Sheer brutality!! One of their best!!

This is my personal favorite from CC , the album that got me into death metal . Some of their best songs ever are here ,"Devoured by Vermin", "Puncture Wound Masscre" , "Eaten from Inside","Monolith ". Even an instrumental called" Relentess Beating"!!!! Some peopole have complained about the overall production saying they can't understand what's being played. Well that alone shows that their musical opinion is useless anyway. CC tuned down to a or B on this one ,a major jump down from their previous recordings but definitely the norm for death metal bands these days. If the production would of been very clear and easy to pick out various riffs , this album simply wouldn't have been so brutal soundng, it's impossible. The fact is if you actually try to hear the guitars you will eventully hear some very twisted technical riffs, and some very creepy guitar harmonies. Very hard to play an entire song for most people , due to the extremely fast double picking and some insane jumps from one end of the guitar to another at high speed. Definitely a step up for this legendary death metal band. I saw these guys in Montreal last year(May 2001) and they pulled it all off!!Even faster!! While wind-milling!!!!
