- Driven to kill this is not my will, I am compelled to slay . . .

Once again Cannibal Corpse sets the bar HIGH for the rest of the death metal playing field! Time will show this to be one of the elite death metal albums ever!

- They got better.

As if they weren't awesome enough, they went and made this new album which is simply breathtaking. I love it. Thank you Cannibal Corpse.

- 20 years and still killing!!

Cannibal Corpse are one of the best at what they do - and as the numbers indicate, they are officially the best-selling death metal act of all time. Kudos- they deserve it. The new album "Evisceration Plague" shows that they have not lost a step - their riffs are just as sick, technical, and brutal as ever, and as others have stated, abit more catchy than some of their past material. George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher is one of the most articulate of death metal vocalists, making deciphering his vocals quite easy, once you have your 'death metal ear' tuned up. Eric Rutan has again brought fantastic sound to the production, giving room & clarity to every instrument in the maelstrom of metal brutality... and it seems has given Cannibal a breath of fresh air, starting with "Kill". I've only had the album for one day, so it's hard to pick out standout tracks - they ALL kick you right in the teeth - which is exactly what you'd expect from a new Cannibal Corpse album!! My edition of "Evisceration Plague" came with a 'making of' DVD, which I haven't got to watch yet. Whether this is a special edition or not, I have no idea, as I didn't even realize it was there until I opened the packaging when I got home. As a musician myself, I LOVE stuff like this! In the past, it was a big expectation of what kind of sick artwork was gonna be on the new Cannibal CD - but I think that bird has 'flown the coop', so to speak. The artwork is still done by Vincent Locke, but it's a pale comparison to the absolutely shocking stuff he's done in the past... oh well, it's about the music anyways. Overall, a great new album by the KINGS of death metal!

- Mature Corpse

At this point in their career, it would be very easy for Corpse to bludgeon you with an onslaught of endless blast beats. But Evisceration Plague is far from that. This may be Corpse's most mature release to date. The album is heavy, dark, intense, and yet, catchy. You find yourself singing along, especially with track 3 (To Decompose). But don't let my previous statement detour you, despite being catchy, the album still has a lot of balls. The songs have lot's of depth, with lot's of rhythm and vocal changes. The lyrics, are as dark and humorous as ever. Webster out did himself this time. Even the slower tracks, such as the title track, have their own presence. They stand up with the rest of the album.

Although in the past I've preferred Barnes over Corpsegrinder, this album has made me a believer. I'm going back through the Corpse catalog like someone who just discovered Corpse.

Bottom Line: This album is for old fans and new, there's something for everyone! For anyone who thinks Corpse is getting old and tired, this album is their response. They've still got it, and Evisceration Plague proves it. Weighing in at just under 40 minutes, this album is intense, mature, and worthy of the Cannibal Corpse name!
