The Band: Ivan & Alyosha The Buzz: Smooth, soaring guitar pop from Seattle duo that is plaintive and pristine. Listen If: You’d be curious to hear what happened if the Shins slowed it down a bit. Single Minded: Flo Rida, The Hush Sound, Lyrics Born, The Matches Every Tuesday Single Minded highlights new tracks hitting stores (or the Web) this week. On Fridays, come back for rarities, remixes, mash-ups and more. Flo Rida, “American Superstar” [MySpace] Not nearly as good as Ken Tucky. She & Him, “Sentimental Heart” [MySpace] Zooey Deschanel teams with indie-folk singer-songwriter M. Ward for a record of cruising AM radio pop. The label was originally hoping for Ellen Page and Ryan Adams, but both backed out due to “other commitments.” Lyrics Born, “Hot 2 Deff” [Hype Machine] The latest from nimble indie rapper is titled Everywhere At Once — a veiled reference to that damned Flo Rida song. The Hush Sound, “Honey” [MySpace] Chicago quartet makes stately, ornamented pop perfect to accompany those long, long nights at South Pacific rehearsal after school. The Matches, “Wake the Sun” [Hype Machine] When their new album leaked, California rock band the Matches suggested that everyone who downloaded it donate to a charity. New Eagles Song Hits MySpace; Watch Jack White as Elvis Presley; Nine Inch Nails to Release Remix Album The Eagles are back in flight. It’s been 28 years since their last studio album, but now “How Long,” the first single from the band’s October-released, Wal-Mart-only album Long Road Out Of Eden, is streaming on MySpace. Click here to listen to the song. From the Hollywood comedy mafia that brought you Knocked Up and Superbad comes the trailer for the musical biopic spoof Walk Hard, starring John C. Reilly as a Johnny Cash/Brian Wilson hybrid, White Stripes’ Jack White as kung-fu Elvis, and Jewel in some capacity. Nine Inch Nails will release a Year Zero remix album, cleverly leet-titled Y34R Z3R0 R3M1X3D. The strange visa issues that Lily Allen somehow circumvented to attend the MTV Video Music Awards nomination show in Las Vegas will also force her to miss her appearance at the actual award show on September 9th. The Beastie Boys are following up their first ever concert in Brooklyn by adding shows in Detroit, Chicago, Toronto, and Montreal. Check out the dates after the jump. 9/20 Montreal, Quebec - Bell Centre 9/21 Toronto, Ontario - Air Canada Centre 9/22 Toronto, Ontario - Hummingbird Centre for Performing Arts (Instrumental show) 9/24 Detroit, MI - Fillmore 9/26 Chicago IL - Riviera Theatre (Instrumental show) 9/27 Chicago IL - Charter One Pavilion

Eric Clapton Adds Acts to Crossroads Fest, Iggy Pop Lashes Out at Stooges Flicks, Cheap Trick Play the Beatles Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival, set to take place next weekend in Chicago, already boasts a lineup that features acts ranging from B.B. King to John Mayer. Now the show — which will benefit Clapton’s rehab facility in Antigua — has added Robbie Robertson, formerly of The Band, along with Johnny Winter and emcee Bill Murray to the list of performers. Festival organizers will also release extra tickets to the previously sold-out event today via the venue’s box office and Ticketmaster. Iggy Pop apologized for using a racist term during an interview at Glastonbury and lashed out at the two Stooges biopics in the works, even though he already approved of Elijah Wood’s casting. Cheap Trick and special guests will play Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band at the Hollywood Bowl on August 10 and 11 to celebrate the album’s 40th anniversary. Only about half of fans who scored free tickets to this year’s Ozzfest have showed up to the tour’s California dates. After some release-date shuffling, Kanye West and 50 Cent will go head to head on September 11 with new albums. Photo: Kane/Getty
