Children of Bodom

Children of Bodom Album: “Chaos Ridden Years: Stockholm Knockout Live [PA]”

Children of Bodom Album: “Chaos Ridden Years: Stockholm Knockout Live [PA]”
Description :
Capturing Finland's own Children Of Bodom in a blistering live setting, CHAOS RIDDEN YEARS is a raw and uncompromising snapshot of the group's prowess. These mavens of melodic death metal set themselves apart from the din with prominent keyboard solos complementing the crushing guitar assault, shotgun drumming, and aggressive vocals.

- Great show of a great band

Children of bodom is one of the best metal band in the world. When I heard they were making a dvd I was excited because I never saw them live. Now that I watched the dvd, I can say that they are as impressive in show as they are in the studio. While the show is great Ido have one complaint.I think the set list isn't as impresive. Here's the concert tracklist:

Living Dead Beat

Sixpounder

Silent Night, Bodom Night

Hate Me!

We're Not Gonna Fall

Angels Don't Kill

Deadbeats I (drum solo)

Bodom After Midnight /

Bodom Beach Terror - medley

Follow the Reaper

Needled 24/7

Clash of the Booze Brothers (solo battle)

In Your Face

Hate Crew Deathroll

Are You Dead Yet?

Solo: Roope Latvala - Guitar

Lake Bodom

Everytime I Die

Downfall

The problem I have is that their 2 best album for me is hatebreeder and follow the reaper. As you can see they forgot a lot of their best song such as hatebreeder, children of bodom, mask of sanity or kissing the shadows just to name a few.By the way their killer song Bodom after midnight included in the show has been dramastically cut which is unfortunate because it is trully one of their best. One of the best thing of the show has to be the drum solo (who would have thought that he only use one bass drum)In terms of extra there is a documentary and music videos. In conclusion I dont think its the best metal show Ive seen on dvd but for only 10$if your a fan then you should pick this up and if you're not pick it up anywayit is totally worth it.

- Impressive

This Dvd was amazing. Children of bodom are one of the best live metal bands out there and this shows them at their finest. This DVD is very good especially for the low price.

- It's not Tokyo Warhearts, but it's still Bodom

First I have to say that Bodom is my favorite band and Alexi is a master...but this album was not as good as their first live album. I think that Alexi's playing has worsened over the years. The songs on the album are a fairly good selection. They really limit the number of songs off of Are You Dead Yet?, which is fantastic. The real disappointment is that they only play one song off of Something Wild and only a few off of Hatebreeder and some of the solos are not up to par; all of the tracks off of Follow The Reaper are phenominal. The sound quality is pretty good on all the tracks, and all but Henka have their own solo tracks, including Clash of the Booze Brothers which is a throw back to Tokyo Warhearts with Alexi and Janne battling it out, though I think Alexi kind of falls short of what I expected. All in all this album is a must own for all Bodom fans. This lets all fans experience Bodom live, since trips around the US for Bodom are few and far between.

- EVERYTHING WORKS EXCEPT THE MIX

A great performance considering the band is drunk as a muthaf@#ker. The band is spot on perfect. Good editing and great camera work with lots of fretboard close-ups. Great lighting and stage design with lots of flashpots. The whole band performs with amazing energy.

IMHO, the only thing that kills this show is the muddy mix. Too many highs with almost no mids or bottom end. The bass drums during Jaska's drum solo sound like someone tapping out rhythms on a coffee table with their hands. COB's studio albums don't have a lot of bottom, but a LIVE Metal show should vibrate the walls. I could barely feel the vibration in my floor at an extremely high volume. These guys need a new man at the mixing board.

Maybe next time.

The concert was shot in widescreen with a 2.0 or 5.1 Surround mix.

If you're a serious audiophile you may be disappointed. I know I was.

- This DVD's A Gem

This show put on In Stockholm with COB is killer from start to end. The crowd is charged, the energy is perfect. This is ideal if you were too plastered to remember the time you saw COB play live in your city, plus there is a segment of the show where Alexi and Jaska have a solo battle titled Clash of the Booze Brothers. You get a chance to see how freakishly fast these musicians can play. This DVD litterally embodies everything you listen to COB for in every aspect of it's presentation. I wish they had played more of their Follow the Reaper material. That is by far their best album, and the benchmark for all metal albums maybe since Master of Puppets or Rust in Peace. None the less, the setlist is still satisfactory.

The extra footage can be summed up as 'drunken on-tour debauchery', which has no purpose to educate the viewer on how the band writes, or developed as musicians. No, all you see is the band being as obscene as humanly possible towards the camera for about an hour. But THIS IS METAL!!
