Coldplay Album: “A Rush of Blood to the Head”
 Description :
Coldplay includes: Chris Martin (vocals); Guy Berryman, Jon Buckland, Will Champion, Phil Harvey.
<p>Recorded between 2001 & 2002.
<p>"Clocks" won the 2004 Grammy Award for Record Of The Year. A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. "In My Place" won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
<p>In 2000, Coldplay appeared seemingly out of nowhere and immediately advanced to the head of the Britpop class in the UK, while easily outdistancing the likes of Oasis and Blur in terms of US popularity. The most striking thing was that they did it with zero attitude and unassuming, melodic tunes humbly presented with a minimum of fuss and a maximum of memorability. That trend continues on the band's second album, A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD.
<p>There's little stylistic alteration from PARACHUTES here, which is just fine, considering how enormously and instantly appealing that style is. While Travis, Elbow, and other entrants in the Britpop sweepstakes offer a not dissimilar sound, none can communicate with the honest immediacy and directness of Coldplay. Part of the key, apart from melodies so ridiculously catchy as to make Belle & Sebastian sound like Public Image Ltd., may be their working-class sense of all-for-one proletarianism (though not in the breast-beating Oasis manner). Even on "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face," when Chris Martin goes so far as to offer a few boastful phrases, the ultimate sentiment that comes across is the refrain "your guess is good as mine."

- Unbelievable stuff.....
The song 'Yellow' was garnering more and more airplay, and i had definitely heard of Coldplay but didn't have any of their
songs. It was a few years ago that my friend told me to go and buy Parachutes, and I was completey blown away.
So the two year wait for 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' has been eagerly anticipated. After listening to this album for a week now, I haven't been disppointed. Coldplay have exceeded my expectations, infact they have done even more. They have made a masterful album full of life, with warm, soulful, uplifting tracks of the highest quality. The heart rendering emotion displayed in 'The Scientist' will be nothing like you've heard this year. The amazing piano work on 'Clocks' is breathtaking. Just close your eyes and listen to 'Green Eyes' and you'll be transported to a beautiful place, and 'Warning Sign' with it's guitar compliments the lyrics perfectly. Chris Martin puts every inch of his heart in to his songs and never leaves a stone unturned. 'God put smile on you face' and 'A rush of blood to the head' are louder but never lose their appeal and grace that Coldplay have firmly put in to place. Every song is great in its own right, and the soft 'Amersterdam' is a perfect album closer.
In this day and age many bands stuggle to find a grip in their music and more often than not produce inconsistent material with

- terrific band and album
I'm ashamed to admit I never heard of Coldplay until recently when I saw them on a late-night viewing of MTV2. Then this past weekend, I was actually able to buy a copy of this album before it was officially released in North America. Don't know how this store got copies of it, but I'm glad they did. I could not believe what I heard.
Coldplay is the first band in years that has given me hope that rock 'n roll isn't dead. In this age of boy bands, hip-hop and rock/hip-hop hybrids, nothing has excited me more about music than Coldplay and this album. The freshness of their music is the key; reminds me of when Oasis first came onto the scene. Incredible lyrics, and incredible musical arrangements.
I would highly recommend this masterpiece. "God Put A Smile On Your Face" was the song I heard on MTV2 and I immediately became hooked to this band's music. My other favorite tracks on this album are "Clocks" and "Daylight", as well as "In My Place". Heck, I enjoy every track. It's not often that I buy an album where I thoroughly enjoy every single song on it.
Great job guys. Now it's time for me to go out and get their first album Parachutes.

- Even Better Than Parachutes.
Wow, what can I say. Coldplay has shown even more musical talent with their 2002 release "Rush of Blood to the Head". After hearing "Yellow" in 2000 I thought I might check out this new band. I was not dissapointed. Songs off of parachutes like "Don't Panic", "Shiver", "Spies" and "Trouble" made me a fan and I looked forward to their next cd. This is amazing. Chris Martin's soulful, pained singing about lost and hopeless love drifting over intricate guitar hooks and piano melodies is pure bliss to listen to. Highlights of the album include the single "In My Place", the dreamy "Clocks", the guitar driven opener "Politik", the sad but brilliant "Scientist" and the amazing epic "Amsterdam". The only song I didn't really care for was "Daylight", which kinda sounded reminiscent of Beatles material but just did not click. Besides that, this album is a masterpiece. Coldplay are only going to get better and more talented in the coming years.

- This is a CD you will listen to for a long, long time...
There is not one dull, unexpressive song on this album. They are all noteworthy and unique in their own right. Green Eyes and Warning Sign are my current favorites, but that's just because they have a special meaning. Politik is another strong track. Excellent mood music, driving music.

- Believe the Hype.
When it comes to marketing an artist as the Next Big Thing, nobody can do it like Britain's hype machine. Oasis, Travis, the Stone Roses, and Radiohead have all benefited from generous UK publicity in the hopes of spawning the next international multiplatinum act. For this reason, I was apprehensive about buying Coldplay's "A Rush of Blood to the Head." Sure, I knew it got gleaming reviews and it shot to No. 1 in over half a dozen countries, but is the album any good? You better believe it is. While American acts have been running the nu-metal/rap-rock craze to the ground, the British, once again, put us Yanks to shame by showing us how rock is DONE. The disc is a winning mix of mellowed-out pop and edgy rock that recalls Oasis and shades of Radiohead, but the sound is certainly their own. My fave tracks of note are "In My Place," "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face," and the title track. Great hooks, impressive melodies, and smart lyrics. And while lead member Chris Martin isn't quite the most distinguishable vocalist around, his singing nicely compliments the music on this disc. "A Rush of Blood to the Head" is already on my list of the best albums of the year, and in my school of music, it gets an A-.
