- Mindblowing for veterans and newcomers alike
Cradle of Filth has been my favorite band since I randomly picked out their powerhouse album "Cruelty And The Beast" almost a year ago. I have since devoured every album they've produced, most notably the shatteringly ground-breaking "Midian." With this compilation of noteworthy cuts as well as some rare stuff, namely the "Red October" mix of "Thirteen Autumns And A Widow," one of my all-time favorite songs, COF have permanently established themselves, IMO, as one of the most musically gifted, lyrically amazing black metal outfits in the genre. The import edition of this CD includes an amazing poster with ALL the lyrics to every cut on the album. That alone makes this a worthy buy, so if the US edition includes it, you'd do well to pick it up. EVERY song, with the exception, IMO, of the dismal "Twisting Further Nails" remix (techno does not belong in COF), absolutely rips. From the blood-curdling "Beneath The Howling Stars" to the chilling "Her Ghost In The Fog" to the pinnacle of COF's amazing career, IMO, "Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids," "Lovecraft And Witch Hearts" will give you sonic pleasure undreamed of. Even if you have all the albums, buy this; the rare cuts make this a shining gem to add to your collection. I'm glad COF released this to sate the ravenous appetite of the fans who are desperately awaiting the forthcoming new album. For the COF newcomer, this CD will give you an excellent introduction to the unparalleled black metal cutting-edge sound of which COF are pioneers. Buy this immediately!

- The ultimate testament to Filth...........
Lovecraft and Witchhearts is an excellent representation of the greatest metal band. The sounds of the album sprawl from the edgy screaming and black sound that COF is known for, to melodic music that makes them a one of a kind band. The Album includes a bonus disc with some music unreleased prior to this cd, and the return of some filthy classics. Buy it; its good.

- A disturbing dark trip down music lane
I really like dark and disturbing movies. I mean Hellraiser, Angel Heart, and The Ninth Gate are some of my favorites. Now I am beginning to like dark and disturbing music. Not too long ago a friend of mine introduced me to Cradle of Filth. Though I am not a huge fan of the group, I found a liking for some of their dark, disturbing music. Basically if you took the movie Hellraiser and put it into music form, Cradle of Filth would be the result. Their mixture of harmonic keyboards and death metal vocals is really unique though often imitated. Their music is like pleasure and pain rolled into one. I can see why they are gaining a huge following. I myself can only take so much Death Metal vocals before I tire of it. It's just a personal preference and so that is why this "best of" collection will do me just fine. I get all I want of the group in one collection. I also found to my liking is that this collection contains 2 covers, Slayer's Hell Awaits and Iron Maiden's Hallowed Be Thy Name. I found these covers to be great, especially Hallowed Be Thy Name which is the best Iron Maiden cover I have ever heard. This collection overall is a perfect purchase for anyone who wants to here the dark side of music.

- Not REAL black metal.....but very impressive!
I am a huge death/black metal fan, and i have to ay i DO love CoF. They arent "True" black metal but who the hall cares!!???? They have incredible musiciansship and songs that are just plain amazing! I love Burzum, Darkthrone, Nile, Gorgoroth....etc... this is just as good! If you are only into heavy "True" black metal thats cool...but you have to admit that CoF HAS skills...even if you dont like them.

- Cradle rocks my world
okie dokie Cradle of filth tottally did an Awesome job on this. Mr. Dani Filth's voice can range from a possesed snake to like a deep pycho murderer. its very sexy. The lyrics are very dark and twisted (but thats what makes it so great) the thrashing guitars and the double bass (thats a drummy thingy...) and the symphony tottaly ROCK. the best songs have to be lord abortion (necrophila kinda song), cradle to enslave, of dark blood and F@*#&ing and hallowed be thy name. actually theyre all good. its very insperational music for those who do creepy fun art. BUY or i will slaughter. oh dont let the rents read the lyrics. they will have a heart attack.
