Daft Punk

Disco de Daft Punk: “Homework”

Disco de Daft Punk: “Homework”
Descripción (en inglés) :
Daft Punk: Thomas Bangalter, Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo. <p>Producers: Thomas Bangalter, Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo. <p>Recorded at Daft House, Paris, France. <p>"Da Funk" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. <p>"Around The World" was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. <p>Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, the two French twenty-something DJs who make up Daft Punk, are relentless dance-music aficionados and historians. And unlike many of their contemporaries, their interests don't just lie in the electronic beats that have been rockin' the clubs since the mid-80s. The two knob-twiddlers are just as well-versed in Giorgio Moroder's Eurodisco grooves, Chic, and the old-school rhythms of Afrika Bambaata and the Sugarhill Records catalog, as they are in the Chicago house and Detroit techno traditions. <p>When they're not assembling catchy-as-hell bits of electro-pop ("Around The World"), throwing down slabs of minimalist funk ("Da Funk"), or marrying Miami bass to Kraftwerkian blips ("Oh Yeah"), Homem-Christo and Bangalter try to impart a little knowledge. On "Teachers," they use a Ween-esque distorted vocal line to name-check a broad list of influences that includes Brian Wilson, Dr. Dre, and Armand Van Helden. Their broad focus, utopian determination and, of course, their way with a beat earn Daft Punk's HOMEWORK a well-deserved "A".

- Still my favorite album

4 years ago, I was walking around the campus of Ohio State University and I went into a record shop. In the little headphones on the wall, this album was playing. I liked it and so I bought it. I play it at a few parties and everybody starts to like it--people are playing it at parties from their own copy. Now, 4 years later, I've listened to a lot of hardcore dance music and Daft Punk is still way up on top. Reviews describe it as low-tech but good. I describe it as a record that had more thought put into it than 99% of others I've heard. It's intense. I recommend it all the time. Listen close, you'll probably hear it mixed in to the music at the techno clubs where you live. "Oh Yeah" is the worst song I've ever heard though. -Kyle6036@aol.com

- Homework: The best of Daft Punk

This is in my opinion, the best Daft Punk album with its addictive hooks, beats and groove. A lot of people like Discovery better which has a lot more vocals , I say it's all up to you. I prefer as few vocals as possible in my electronica, and Homework suits me just fine.

- Homework Is Done!THIS GROOVES!

Finaly a team of DJ's and samplers who actaully know what

their doing.Every cut on "Homework" emphasises dancibility above

all else."Teachers" even offers a funky shout-out to every artist

known and unknwon who influenced the two and of course "Around The World" is "Around the World".The memorable "Fresh"

and "Pheonix also stand out, even ammong a little indulgent DJ

turntable noodling here and there. But no matter how they do it

it seems Daft Funk would be a better name because these tracks

GET DOWN!!

- Great Album; Latest Pressing, However...

While this is one of the greatest house/electronic albums to have been released in the 90s, this latest vinyl pressing from Virgin may be problematic. I purchased this vinyl from my local record store last night, and when I first opened it and looked at the vinyl under light it looked a little warped, seeing grooves going across other grooves at parts throughout (on both sides of the A/B side). Then when I played it, there were constant bumps and pops and skips throughout every song. I didn't bother listening to the C/D vinyl, and promptly returned it.

When I talked to the employee at the record store, they said they had had the same problem with other people buying the same album. I have a feeling there may have been a large number of defective pressings.

Try to get an earlier pressing of this album, or be lucky and buy this one and get a pressing that isn't screwy.

Amazing album though.
