'Idol' Alum Chris Daughtry Goes Political! His band will perform at both political conventions. "American Idol" alum Chris Daughtry and his rock band are getting involved in the 2008 presidential election but will not take political sides, the musician tells People. Daughtry, a finalist in the fifth season of FOX's hit show, is using a new song to try to get the word out that everyone should vote in this year's election. The singer's group plans to perform the song, a remake of Foreigner's 1977 hit "Feels Like the First Time," at both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, People says. Daughtry insists his band is remaining bipartisan in the effort, saying "We're equal-opportunity employers."
