<p>Long a guiding light of the jam scene, the Dave Matthews Band is always better witnessed in its natural road warrior setting, and LIVE AT MILE HIGH MUSIC FESTIVAL is no exception. The sprawling three-disc set captures all of the groups many shades, from the melancholy, dulcet tones of "Proudest Monkey" to the full-out rocking version of the combo's first big hit, "Ants Marching." Other highlights include a spirited cover version of "Sledgehammer" on which Matthews sounds eerily like Peter Gabriel, and a rousing eight-minute take on Sly Stone's funk classic, "Thank You (Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Agin)."

- Dave Snuck One In
I did not realize that there was going to be a new live retail cd (DMB has been selling their lives shows on their website) until I saw it while I was doing Christmas shopping. Like any DMB fan I realized I had to have it. I have all the albums and I suppose this one does the best job of providing both the Old / Classics and the New Songs (which dont seem to as raw or emitional). The treat is two songs that are covers that to my knowledge are the first time played on a live retail DMB cd.
All in all the quality is way better than a bootleg which with a little effort you could most likely find and the cd does a good job capturing the show.
This will give any DMB a quick fix until the new studio album is released in the Spring.

- My Personal Favorite DMB Album!
This album really gets me going, much like all DMB music does. However, this one in particular is special. I have all the popular live albums (Central Park, Chicago, Red Rocks, Luther College, etc.) but the professionalism combined with authenticity in Live at Mile High just does it for me. Listen to Two-Step, Jimi Thing, and Ants Marching on this album, and I know you'll understand. Everything is just so well executed!
- So Damn Lucky
I am so Damn Lucky to have found this CD. I love it. Especially the rendition of "so damn Lucky." I don't understand these music snobs that found it ho-hum. Maybe they didn't listen to the whole cd. Who knows. All I know is that this compilation of material is wonderful and I will happily make it a part of my DMB collection. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good live music.
- Wonderful live album!
This is a terrific example of why DMB is such a successful touring band. "Old Dirt Hill" never sounded better. The replacement saxphonist for Leroi Moore (RIP) breathes new life into "#41". Tim Reynolds repeatedly shines on guitar. The album successfully mixes light (like Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer") and dark (such as Dave's solo song "Gravedigger") and various shades in between ("Die Trying").
- Well done Dave Matthews
As much as i love a DMB studio album you can't beat a live recording of the band. Hearing the band live is the way to truly enjoy them. Live at Mile High is a great live album for all types of DMB fans. This concert was an amazing show that included some of DMB biggest songs(two step, ants marching, stay, Louisiana Bayou, too much) as well as a few newer jams(Eh hee and cornbread) and DMB suprised us with two great cover songs(sledgehammer and thank you). This is the first album to be released by the band without saxophonist LeRoi Moore and the first to feature Bela Fleck and the Flecktones saxophonist Jeff Coffin for the entire set. Its sad knowing LeRoi wont be back but Coffin really fills his stop nicely. Tim Reynolds also played with the band the whole tour so you'll hear him rip so nice guitar solos on You Might Die Trying and Proudest Monkey. The only problem i have with DMB is that they're releasing so many different live albums as well as live tracks with the same songs on it. So i am anxiously waiting for their new album to be released to get a new set songs throw into the mix. Overall though great album to own and is a must buy for all you DMB concert goers out there.
