iPhones Are For Virgins [To Do] newVideoPlayer("/todoemail_def.flv", 506, 423,""); Occasionally, I take a post-work nap before waking up to film the next night's To Do list. And on those occasions when I wake up from said naps, I am usually greeted with some sort of surprise. Typically, it's a pile of dog crap on the floor of my closet (Thanks, Wagandstuff!), but last night it was a spirited email from my partner in hate-crime, one Miss Edward Gottomesmerize Jolie Hyphen Pitt. In true EGJHP form, the email could only be described as "on point", and therefore I felt it would be selfish of me not to share it with you in its entirety. Check out the email and your weekend To Dos after the jump... Friday - Dan Deacon at the Getty Center. - Supergrass at Amoeba . - Ricky Gervais at the Kodak Theater. · Yaz @ The Orpheum. · Taming Of The Shrew at The Shakespeare Festival LA (going all weekend). · Outfest continues all weekend long, too. Saturday - Paula Poundstone at the Brentwood Theater. - Hieroglyphics at the El Rey. - Unwritten Law at the Malibu Inn. Sunday - Bastille Day Festival in West Hollywood Park. - Heather Thomas at Book Soup. - Live, Collective Soul and Blues Traveler at the Greek Theater.

Mischa Barton's CrashWe sometimes forget that the streets of Los Angeles are a uniquely treacherous place, patrolled by glassy-eyed celebrities in hulking SUVs, waiting for an opportunity to ram their vehicles into unwitting civilians just so they can feel the elusive human connection denied them by their insulating, soul-deadening fame. A story in the LA Weekly reminds about this chilling aspect of life in our fine city, as well as the fact that Mischa Barton is apparently not as skilled a driver as her paparazzi-e

David Caruso Apparently Just Moody Because of His Fugitive Austrian Stalker [Investigations]Scratch an egomaniac and you're sure to find a sensitive soul just a sincere hug or two away from a healthy, humanitarian lifestyle. At least that's our read on ginger terror David Caruso, whose tyranny on the set of CSI: Miami can only come from a place of haunted concern for something larger than himself — say, perhaps, upholding the dramatic tradition of sunglasses-removal, or, if we are to believe the civilian investigation to which we were tipped this morning, the whereabouts of a fugitive stalking suspect he (and reportedly the FBI) might prefer to see located sooner than later. Hide the children and follow the jump to enter the frightening world of... the David Caruso Stalker Chronicles. As recently as April, Austrian authorities were reportedly searching for an unnamed 41-year-old woman who skipped her trial on charges of stalking and threatening to kill Caruso and his "butt-ugly Latina whore" — generally believed to be his former TV wife Alana De La Garza. That was the last we heard of it before this week, when a subculture of stalker hunters leapt out of the woodwork and into our morning coffee. And they make the outlandish Marilyn Monroe collectibles circuit seem better-adjusted than a Honda: Yesterday this site published the above photos of David Caruso's stalker, speculating that the photo on the left was indeed David Caruso's stalker. As predicted, when Gabriele Huber's Internet access became available in her spider hole, she went into triple overtime vehemently denying these images were her. Does that mean the woman posting the denials IS Caruso's stalker but the photos aren't? Huber also denied using the pseudonyms Vixen, Anonymous, and QB2die4 as well to post these denials. As Frank Tripp would say, honey that's a "felony stupid." Er, right. Anyway, if you happen to see this woman bumping around Innsbruck, feel free to casually ask if she caught last week's CSI: Miami or if she knows where to find a good defense lawyer. Just in case, you

![Picture: Reunited Synth Duo Yaz Is Still Blue Eyed And Dressed For Every Situation [Not The Birth Control Pill]](http://imagecache03.pixsy.com/07082008/78/780d4bc3-cd20-4af6-8b0a-38e48b57c70a.jpg)
Reunited Synth Duo Yaz Is Still Blue Eyed And Dressed For Every Situation [Not The Birth Control Pill]Yaz is back. And no, we're not talking about the birth control pill. Rather, we're referencing the new wave duo from the early `80s whose synth heavy anthems like "Situation" and "Don't Go" are still getting spins on radio and in the clubs. Featuring the lusty vocals of blue-eyed soul singer Alison Moyet and the beats of original Depeche Mode songwriter Vince Clarke, Yaz put out two albums before splitting in 1983. Though they never quite infiltrated the U.S. culturally the way their contemporaries like The Cure and Depeche Mode did, they did manage to gained themselves a cult following with an influential and loyal group of fans: the gays. As Moyet told the LA Times today, “I'm aware that I have a lot of gay fans, and I love it." During their brief heyday the duo only played New York, which means their three shows in LA this week are a boon for all the gays who missed them the first time around, some 25 odd years ago. After two records, which were hits in the U.K. but failed to crack the Billboard Top 20 here, they went their separate ways, with Moyet pursuing a solo career, and Clarke forming Erasure. But whatever you do, don’t call them “new wave.” The LA Times has a story on the reunion of the short-lived UK duo today, and quotes Vince Clark, one half of the duo, as saying “I feel very 'old wave' these day. I'm old and wavering." You can catch them performing during any of the three nights they'll be at the Orpheum Theatre. They'll be playing on tonight at 8pm, and again on July 10 and 11.

![Picture: Owen Wilson's Absence Makes Studio Hearts Grow Impatient [Promotional Consideration]](http://imagecache03.pixsy.com/03202008/b3/b3d7801e-d027-4cb8-8fe6-9377c382229f.jpg)
Owen Wilson's Absence Makes Studio Hearts Grow Impatient [Promotional Consideration]The second Owen Wilson film to hit theaters since his suicide attempt last August, the new comedy Drillbit Taylor, is likewise the second consecutive -- and for his employers, hopefully the last -- film for which Wilson has skipped doing publicity and promotion. To wit, while John Horn and Gina Piccalo acknowledge in today's LA Times that the teen bully-bodyguard film will probably find its adolescent boy market without Wilson doing the print rounds or baring his soul to the likes of Barbara Walters, their Great Moments in Publicity Awkwardness timeline suggests that date may need to occur sooner than later:Unlike Paramount's extensive marketing effort for Drillbit, Fox Searchlight depends on publicity to boost most of its theatrical release campaigns. With little free media (and good but not gushing reviews) for The Darjeeling Limited, the film came and went quickly, grossing just $11.9 million domestically and slightly more overseas. Disney chose a different strategy with December 2006's Mel Gibson movie Apocalypto, whose release came on the heels of the actor-filmmaker's notorious anti-Semitic arrest rant. ... Although Gibson and CNN's Anderson Cooper famously didn't quite hit it off, the filmmaker was able to talk about his movie more than might have been expected. The authors also note the strength of Hugh Grant's rebound from solicitation charges in 1995, and the subsequent $70 million take for his film Nine Months. It all makes sense on paper, which is the only kind of sense Fox will need this Christmas when it approaches the release of the currently in-production Wilson/Jennifer Aniston comedy Marley & Me. That's a duo with a ton of baggage, but that's part of what the studio paid for. (That doesn't even include the bump in the insurance budget -- a number we'd be interested in knowing, and not a wholly separate issue from whether or not the studio can publicize its film in the end.) We don't think it's going too far out on a limb to presume Wilson will be o

It's All Bond All the Time as 'Solace' Forced Down America's Throat [Defamer Attractions]Welcome back to Defamer Attractions, your weekly guide to everything new, noteworthy and cash-hoarding at the movies. That latter qualifier is the centerpiece of today's new openings, with the 007 franchise facing virtually no competition outside a few escaped zoo animals from last week. But you still have options, including some critics' choice for this year's best picture and the usual harvest of fresh DVD's. As always, our opinions are our own, but their hauling power is unmatched and they seat millions comfortably. Take a test drive after the jump? WHAT'S NEW: Quantum of Solace has the wide-release slot to itself, where Daniel Craig's brooding Bond will likely crest above $60 million — by far the highest opening gross of any 007 film to date. We'll call it for $63.7 million despite some pull from leftovers Madagascar 2 and Role Models, themselves expecting $40 million and $10 million respectively in their second weekends. Your options are a lot better when avoiding the multiplex in LA: Jean-Claude Van Damme's meta-self-biopic JCVD is opening, along with the almost universally acclaimed Catherine Deneuve/Mathieu Amalric dramedy A Christmas Tale. Also: The Alphabet Killers, featuring Eliza Dushku as a police detective (!); the explicit gay Israeli romantic comedy Antarctica; the talky Afghanistan war indie B.O.H.I.C.A. (Army slang for "Bend Over Here it Comes Again"); the Liberian repression doc Pray the Devil Back to Hell; the Jewish basketball chronicle The First Basket; and a new adaptation of Dalton Trumbo's novel Johnny Got His Gun. THE BIG LOSER: Aside from the glut of indies above, chasing scraps from art-house audiences on their way to DVD — and Soul Men continuing to underperform with $2.2 million or so — today's slate seems to be pretty insulated from disaster. Everyone wins! THE UNDERDOG: Trainspotting director Danny Boyle is said to have made the best film of his career with Slumdog Millionaire, about a winning 18-year-old contestant on the Indian vers

Miley Cyrus Defends Herself Against Shared-Licorice Lesbian Teen Romp Rumors [Mildly Despoiled Virgins]In a story that tidily summed up the Spirit of the Holidays™, a Texas girls' clothing chain offering four seats and a flight to see Miley Cyrus's solidly sold-out concert tour chose as the winner of its essay contest the six-year-old who began her entry, "My daddy died this year in Iraq." Trouble was, her daddy had never been to Iraq, and was alive and well living in the next town over. To listen to her mother, who orchestrated the entire thing, go on at length with a TV reporter about how she was never once told the "essay had to be true" and thus took offense at being labeled a liar, is to truly catch a chilling glimpse into the dark heart of a Hannah Montana concert-ticket-seeking parent's soul. But that would prove to be the lesser of two weekend controversies for the Disney Channel star:Having already shot down one pregnancy rumor and pledged eternal, achy-breaky virtue to her dad until marriage or a serious slip-up, dreaded suggestive photos, the kinds of which have sullied the pristine, candy-wrapped reputations of fellow Disney stars, have now surfaced online. In them (click here for a disappointingly SFW experience), the Hanna Montana star appears to be sharing a treat with a ruby-lipped, bedroom-eyed playmate. Cyrus offered this defense to New York radio station Z100: "They're nothing bad! At first, I was really upset. It really sucks. [The girl in the pictures] was a friend of mine that's a normal girl. [Now] she has to go to school and deal with this crap. It's two girls at a sleepover, and if all of a sudden that's bad, then what is the world coming to? "What I decided before I came out to LA and started working was the minute I didn't have fun was the minute I go home. I don't want to go home, and I don't want to not do what I do, because I love it, but this...it's Satan attacking. It's not something I'm going to let slide. I'm really upset about it, 'cause it was, like, not even a big deal." How the gutter-minded press could twist something as s
