- One of rock's best albums ever.
This is undoubtedly one of the best albums in the history of rock - and there's really no need to qualify this statement by referring to prog alone.
Quite simply, it is an amazing *complete album*, a rare pearl that urges you to sit and listen from start to finish as if it were a single composition rather than a collection of songs. And then sit through it again and again.
In that sense, the bonus tracks are redundant in my opinion, because the album needs to end with the magnificent April - not a second later.

- Great Record, but 3 stars for this reissue
Don't get me wrong, it sounds great and the bonus tracks are excellent, but the fade-out drum solo on the first song, Chasing Shadows, is no longer a fade out on this reissue, it simply cuts off. I compared to the vinyl to be sure, as I thought something sounded off, and yup, it cuts off short. Still, if you can get past one unnatural sounding break on the album, this reissue is worth it. Hold on to your record if you still have it though.

- Great vocals, a fine group effort, excellent remaster
Another of EMI's fine early Purple remasters. The song content is a bit on the moody/psychedelic side. Fine, talented playing by all. Worthy of purchase.
- it rocks
Music at its best. One of my favorite Deep Purple albums (cd). Straight ahead, in your face, rock n roll....... support your favorite artists.

- One of Deep Purple best early albums
Deep Purple the self titled album was one of the best early albums from the Mk2 lineup of the band. This album features hits like Emmareta,Lalena and the bird has flown. This album is very good and is highly recommended.
