DeVotchKa Album: “A Mad and Faithful Telling”
 Description :
On their first album since scoring the massive indie film hit LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, as well as their first for the higher-profile indie label Anti Records, Denver's boundary-pushing Devotchka stick to their guns. Rather than watering down their blend of Eastern Europe (Romany violins) and the American Southwest (mariachi brass; Tex-Mex accordion), A MAD AND FAITHFUL TELLING actually puts these elements out in front of the trio's more traditional indie-rock side on songs such as the lengthy, eclectic "Basso Profundo." Melodramatic ballads like "Blessing In Disguise" and "New World" are still the band's stock in trade, and A MAD AND FAITHFUL TELLING perfectly showcases their quirky but effective mix of influences.

- Amazing
A Mad and Faithful Telling is an incredible piece of work. Simply beautiful and stirring music. Didn't know much about Devotchka before seeing them at a Red Rocks festival last year where they stole the show. Have since bought all their CD's and in my opinion, this one's the best. The Clockwise Witness, Undone and Blessing in Disguise are all great songs, but Transliterator is outstanding rising in emotion throughout.

- Alright! Devotch"ka
I love Devotch'ka. And, this is Devotch'ka at it's best. Some kind of Eastern European hill billy rock and roll, Gypsys on drugs, freaked out Sousaphone players, recovering madmen writing music for Sunday parks. I love it. I love Devotch'ka and I love this album. You betcha!

- Excelente
Very beautiful - especially the fantastic singing, wonderful mariachi brass, fabulous bass, and gorgeous strings and drums. Oh! I guess that would be everything.
- Devotchka A Mad and Faithful Telling
If you like interesting and different music, this cd is a good one... There is a mix of spanish, russian, italian, and jewish beats and sounds. It's different and I am trying to figure out how to classify the music but it is good and I would recommend to anyone who has an open mind about music
- It's more diverse than I expected-Love it!
This cd is great-it's my first DeVotchKa cd. I am impressed by its wide range of music genres... I love the crooner style of the singer and the accordion-it's nostalgic and progressive.
