- Total Masterpiece... HIGHLY underrated

This is Dimmu Borgir's best and most mature album. Every song on this album is utterly fantastic. In fact it contains my top 3 favorite Dimmu Borgir songs (Reptile, the Insight and the Catharsis, Grotesquery Conceiled). Shagrath's vocals sound untterly overwhemlming and Simen's backing vocals add the perfect melodic counterpart to his vocal assault. Astennu's leads sizzle, Mustis's keyboard parts fill the soundscape with dark atmospheres and melodies. The production on this album is incredible... I really do not know how to descirbe it other than being very full and "mystical" sounding. I would say that it is the best sounding metal album I've ever heard. I'm completely flabbergasted as to why this album recieves so little attention from metal fans. It's as if there was a large gap between Enthrone Darkness Triumphant and Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia. Recommended without hesitation, quite possibly my favorite metal album.

- customer, SHUT UP!

please do NOT compare dimmu borgir with marilyn manson. dimmu borgir will blow marilyn manson out of the water anyday of the week, and they don't rub their crotches on security gaurds' bald heads. compared to the mighty dimmu, marilyn manson is a has-been

- Stil the best

I grew up with Dimmu Borgir and watched them evolve into what they are now. Puritanical is a great album along but found death cult to be lacking as a whole. even through all the years i still find my self always returning to listen to this album out of any in their catalog. The production is not super but the songwriting and structures are phenomenal. this is the real dimmu borgir, and it saddens me that they are straying from the creativity found on spiritual black dimensions. highly recommend to anyone who likes metal even if you are turned off from black metal.

- TOTALLY AWESOME BLACK METAL

Dimmu Borgir has perfected the black metal type music with harmonious synthesizers. They have created an acoustically orgasmic record. They combine fast guitar riffs and drumming with background synths. The vocals are awesome as they change often from screaming to actual singing. BUY THIS ALBUM!

- Good old school Dimmu

This is actually my first purchase of an older Dimmu Borgir cd. This work didn't dissapoint me at all. First of all it was the first cd to have Vortex's vocals, which I'm a big fan of his vocals. Shagrath sounds very powerful as always. Tjodalv drumming sounds good. The guitar are very fast and strong. Nothing bad about the album.
