- Bulbs of Passion!
This is it...the first Dinosaur release all reissued even with one or two bonus track(s). I don't really know because I've never seen the original version of this album. "Bulbs of Passion" is a rare song that wasn't on the original album, but I also think the "Does it Float"(live version) is a bonus track too.
This really is a treat to have on CD, though it isn't as good as YLAOM...it really is an original effort with interesting guitar tricks fom J and interesting genre mixing in all of the songs. It's almost folk in some songs, there's metal riffs, some screaming, weird psychadelic tricks, hints of new-wave and use of casios(though where it is found is unknown). The best songs= "Forget the Swan", the heavy and interesting "The Leper", the folky "Cats in the Bowl", the single "Repulsion", the metal driven and quite humorous "Mountain Man", and "Does it Float".
This took me a few weeks to really like, but when it came to me. It really was excellent and I realized "Dinosaur" is really unique and a really creative effort. Almost five stars.

- DINOSAUR
You cannot beat this album! If you are a dinosaur fan and do not own this, do it now! Going throughout life without hearing the beauty of dinosaur at their finest is a crying shame.

- my favorite Dinosaur
Dinosaur Jr are about my favorite band, right up there with Meat Puppets, and this album, to me, is their best output. I'm familiar with all three of the original Dinosaur Jr's albums, and I love them all for different reasons, but this album always made me want to keep listening to it over and over in a way that You're Living All Over Me and Bug don't quite acheive. This album is definately more idiosyncratic than the other two and it's diferent from just about anything that's ever been recorded as far as I know. You should probably just buy the album and let the music explain itself to you.

- Where it all begins
I suppose it is typical for a first release to be under-appreciated and, perhaps more importantly, under-promoted. "Dinosaur" was originally released by small label Homestead Records, so this was expected.
This is a great album (yeah, I know it's not really an album you little whippersnappers). It's stacked with great songs. There are maybe two songs that I sort of endure, but even those are significant works of art. Mascis doesn't play "Severed Lips" live very often unfortunately, it's the best song there imho.
This release is an essential part of any Dinosaur Jr collection.

- Good Cd
This is the first and only (?) dinosaur album. The songs on here were great it went from slow to fast. I like all the songs on here I think out of all the dinosaur jr albums this one has the best vocals and songwriting. But it wouldnt be until 1987 when the band would change thier name to dinosaur jr and rip apart the indie scene with thier next cd your living all over me. The songs on here are the type of songs you can enjoy at any time of day. The songa on here are like easy jam songs like something led zepplin would do, in some cases J mascis sounds a bit like neil young. My all time fave on this album had to be severed lips that song is amazing its not fast and not slow its a song you can bop your head to. My least fave was pointless while pointless is fast punkish song its just J and lou (I think) shouting were starving. Anyways if your new to dinsaur jr dont get this one first its not the type of dinosaur jr that you think, it doesnt sound like thier stuff from your livin all over me or bug and isnt near their stuff from where you been. So buy this if you want a completely different dinosaur jr. Also get your living all over and bug.
