Disco de Emerson, Lake & Palmer: “Greatest Hits Live”

This is a lesser reissue of the former ELP King Biscuit CD.If they are going to reissue a CD, you would think they would at least reissue the entire CD without excluding material. Usually most reissues add material or bonus tracks. Pirates is not included here? Of all the tracks to cut, it is totally mind boggling that this masterpiece has been omittid. My advice to King Biscuit is "If you cannot do it right, then don't do it!" You are better off finding a copy of the original release.

This CD comes from King Biscuit concerts from 1977 and 1974 (the last 3 songs). The 1974 stuff is the same as on Welcome Back My Friends which was also taken from a King Biscuit broadcast.

The 1977 material sound quality is pretty bad with the audience noise mixed in too high. The sound is muddy and does not have the full dynamic range. The 1974 material is somewhat better.

This is not a very CD and I would recommend buying many other ELP CDs before even thinking about this one.

Note that this was originally released as a 2 CD set with more songs on it. The second CD had just Karn Evel 9 plus some Enhanced features that were supposed to be played on your computer but did not work with any computers that had something newer than Windows 95. I disagree that leaving Pirates off of the CD was a big loss. I think the tune is tedious and it wasn't done well on this CD.

The King Biscuit CDs had gone out of print. You can buy some of the new from speciality stores. I am not sure if they are printing new CDs or just living off of the inventory. Wolfgangs Vault acquired the complete King Biscuit library and offers them as streams.
