- Soundtrack to Ingmar Bergman & Jim Henson's lost masterpiece
Not really quite sure what to say about this except that it's absolutely delightful-it's pretty critic-proof. If you ever find yourself walking home from a party through the woods completely messed up, this would be the thing to have in the discman. By turns sounding like Emmet Otter's Jugband and Mortiis, it offers a really delightful mix of dark soundscape and truly weird acoustic hoedown-almost as if it were the soundtrack to a documentary about the lives of trolls, with ethnographic samples of their folk music. Either that or it's the soundtrack to the lost collaboration between Ingmar Bergman and Jim Henson.
Either way, it's a truly creepy, but wondrous experience. My copy came with a patch and a sticker. A warning if this is your first exposure to this band: I am told their other material is much more metal and much more ...polka... than this release. But I bet it's a blast.
I especially enjoy the trolls eating on track 8. GREAT STUFF!

- Interesting stuff, but not remotely metal
I've only recently discovered Finntroll and their crazy Finnish humppa metal sound, but I enjoyed their 2007 album
enough to look into their earlier works. The first one I picked up was 2003's Visor Om Slutet. It may also be the last one I try. Apparently Finntroll's sound has evolved significantly over the past few years, because instead of the crazy "polka metal" I was expecting, Visor Om Slutet doesn't remotely qualify as a metal album at all.
The music on Visor Om Slutet is largely acoustic folk music with clean and "troll" vocals. It relies heavily on flutes and accordions, and has a very ethnic feel. Now this is what made Finntroll appealing as a metal band, and to be sure, the music on this album is totally decent. It's just more appropriate to serve as a soundtrack for fantasy role playing games or a renaissance faire. But it doesn't rock at all. Not even a little.
If you're looking for some unusual folk music, by all means give Visor Om Slutet a listen. If, however, you're looking for metal in the same vein as Finntroll's later releases, you're going to be disappointed by this one.

- Finntroll does it again
before i got this, i had already purchased jakten's tid, midnatten's widunder and nattfodd, i loved them all, they are among my favorite albums of all time (jaktens tid my personal favorite). and now finally i purchased this one....
it truly is one of the weirdest albums ever, but also one of the greatest!! a mix of ambient and accoustic music (with a some celtic instruments thrown in) is truly a great recipe for a kick ass album, if you are a fan of accoustic/ambient music, or just finntroll music, i highly reccomend you picking this up!
- A Great Set
This is great music and a twist for the Trolls. It is folky yet heavy and I like every song. My only problem with this was that it is too short! I could have really got into a full CD while this is more like an EP. But all that aside, it will be on my play list for quite a while. Highly recommended.

- Absolutely Awesome!
Visor Om Slutet is absoluetly amazing! Catchy, infectious melodies with a true nordic feel. Brilliantly devised melodies and ethereal troll like grunting...Who couldn't like it?
