Lindsey Buckingham Returns to RockLindsey Buckingham intended to put out a solo album years ago, but the Fleetwood Mac shows up. “They said, ‘Let’s do a studio album!’” Buckingham explains. Those songs lead to 2001’s Say You Will. The new solo album Gift of Screws ironically came from a period where Buckingham was less focused on music and more centered on his family. Click below for more on Buckingham, including what poet inspired the title of his new album and the status is of the Sheryl Crow/Fleetwood Mac collaboration. • Lindsey Buckingham’s Return to Rock Related Stories: • Album Review: Lindsey Buckingham, Gift of Screws (3.5 stars) • On Tour: Lindsey Buckingham, Coldplay and Yeasayer • Lindsey Buckingham Rocks Us — Hard

News Ticker: The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Rivers Cuomo VH1’s next “Rock Honors” broadcast will be devoted entirely to the Who. Pete Townshend and Roger Daltry are scheduled to perform at the ceremony, which airs July 17th. Fleetwood Mac are discussing a 2009 tour, but Lindsay Buckingham tells Billboard “I don’t think anything is written in stone yet” when it comes to the collaboration Sheryl Crow alluded to earlier this month. Rivers Cuomo is using YouTube to ask fans for help writing a song called “80’s Radio.” Cuomo has most recently directed his co-writers to “come up with some chords, yo.” Lou Reed, My Chemical Romance and Santana are among the acts announced for this year’s Beale Street Music Festival, taking place May 2-4 in Memphis. News Ticker: Kanye West, Weezer, The Game, Sheryl Crow A representative for Kanye West tells Us Weekly that the rumor the rapper secretly married his longtime fiancé is untrue. Rivers Cuomo posted a note on Weezer’s official site this week saying the band’s sixth album is nearly complete. Expect a release in June. The Game has confirmed his release from jail, saying in a statement this week’s conflicting reports were due to “the sensitive negotiations on this matter” and adding he went straight into the studio after leaving prison. Sheryl Crow announced she would be collaborating with Fleetwood Mac. Crow said it could happen next year, but kept mum on additional details.

The Fifteen Best Songs About Cheating This weekend, we asked for your favorite cheating songs. Not “cheating” like when you steal the catcher’s signs while standing on second base — we’re talking cheatin’, like your lover is messing around behind your back, breaking the Seventh Commandment, etc. When that happens, we recommend getting angry, getting drunk and cranking up this list of the authoritative adultery tracks: 1. Marvin Gaye - “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” 2. Hank Williams - “Your Cheatin’ Heart” 3. Squeeze - “Tempted” 4. Dolly Parton - “Jolene” 5. Naughty By Nature - “O.P.P.” 6. Led Zeppelin - “Your Time is Gonna Come” 7. Jimi Hendrix - “Hey Joe” 8. R. Kelly - “Trapped in the Closet” 9. Arthur Alexander - “Go Home Girl” 10. Justin Timberlake - “Cry Me a River” 11. Billy Paul - “Me and Mrs. Jones” 12. Carrie Underwood - “Before He Cheats” 13. John Lennon - “Jealous Guy” 14. Fleetwood Mac - “Everybody Finds Out” 15. Loretta Lynn - “You Ain’t Woman Enough”

Rock List: Fifteen Tracks That Make You Wonder “WHO Was That?!” This weekend’s rock list topic caused a bit of confusion, but by late Saturday everyone seemed to get what we were aiming for: A list of songs that don’t sound at all like the artist performing them. Thanks for your nominations of head-scratching tracks, and here’s the final list: 1. “Tusk,” Fleetwood Mac 2. “D’yer Mak’er,” Led Zeppelin 3. “Jump,” Van Halen 4. “Discotheque,” U2 5. “My World,” Guns N’ Roses 6. “Love Cats,” The Cure 7. “Lay Lady Lay,” Bob Dylan 8. “Helter Skelter,” The Beatles 9. “Beth,” Kiss 10. “Pepper,” Butthole Surfers 11. “Here Comes Your Man,” Pixies 12. “Rocky Racoon,” The Beatles 13. “What Condition My Condition Is In,” Kenny Rogers 14. “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress,” The Hollies 15. “Bang the Drum All Day,” Todd Rundgren Photo: TTI/Retna

Rock Quiz: Concert Poster Answers Revealed You guys correctly identified every single error with this poster. Bob Dylan & The Hawks did play a show in Norfolk, Virginia, on February 13, 1966, but neither Led Zeppelin or Fleetwood Mac opened that night since they didn’t exist yet. Eric Clapton was just starting Cream at that time period and Jimi Hendrix was largely unknown. There’s also, as some of you noted, no venue or city listed on the poster. The Zeppelin poster — which suspiciously has the same background as the Dylan one — lists the band as playing the Fillmore about two months before their first American show. And the picture seems to have been taken about ten years after the show supposedly happened. Anachronistic rock posters aside, Dave’s makes one hell of a sub, but maybe the section of the shop’s Web site that says it represents a time of “love, truth and sharing” needs to be reworked.

“Guitar Hero: World Tour” Unveils Full Track ListPhoto:Activision Guitar Hero: World Tour has finally released its full track list. While the list of 86 tracks isn’t as jaw-dropping as that of its counterpart Rock Band 2, there are a bunch of highlights, including a pair of tracks by Jimi Hendrix and Ozzy Osbourne, plus cuts from Metallica, Nirvana, Van Halen, the Doors and Lynyrd Skynyrd. All the songs are original master recordings. There’s karaoke favorites like the Eagles‘ “Hotel California” and, for the true axmen, virtuoso songs like Joe Satriani’s “Satch Boogie.” Additionally, the game will boast exclusive Guitar Duel recordings by Ted Nugent and Zakk Wylde. There’s also a trio of new play options: Band Career, the Music Studio feature and the 8-player Battle of the Bands that allow bands to compete online. GH:WT also has those new instruments, new amps and that exclusive Smashing Pumpkins premiere single “G.L.O.W.” The game hits shelves October 26th. Death Cab at the DNC: Chris Walla on “Badass” Patrick LeahyPhoto: Getty Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla is on the ground in Denver for the Democratic National Convention and blogging for RollingStone.com. Here’s his first dispatch: On the stereo: Fleetwood Mac, “Walk a Thin Line” My nearest frame of reference for a political convention like the DNCC is SXSW, the annual indie rock melee in Austin, Texas. We’ve been there as a band a handful of times, and I’ve been twice on my own. It’s a train wreck of logistics: Hundreds of bands (many self-managed and very literally independent) trying desperately to find their credentials, their gigs, their accommodations (often the floors of friends) and perhaps most importantly their free beer. There’s definitely free beer to be found, but it’s something of a treasure hunt in Austin. The free drinks seem easier to come by here at the DNCC, but everything else is much more difficult than SXSW. For one, there are black helicopters everywhere and snipers on rooftops, that sort of thing. More riot cops than I remember even at the WTO in Seattle in 1999. And mounted police. Bigass horses on every corner between about 15th and 19th Streets, for a few blocks on either side of Broadway downtown. I’m desperately trying to get my bearings here in Denver — this here mess is tricky to navigate, both in physical and logistical terms. Last night, though, I was lucky enough to get into the reception for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She’s quite the force, much more commanding in person than she sometimes appears on television, and she led an impressive pep rally for the hundred or so House reps, TV producers and guests gathered there. Free wine, but no beer to be found. Funny little expensive-looking hors d’oeuvres. And I think Henry Winkler was there. My new favorite rep, though, is Debbie Wasserman Schultz, from Florida’s 20th district — Broward County, including Fort Lauderdale. She introduced the speaker at the reception, and while I won’t claim to know much about her legislative history (though
