Godsmack Album: “Godsmack [Japan]”

Just to correct Jacob Westrum's review of Godsmack - they are a New-England based band, from Boston. Not seattle.

The debut album from GS is amazing. It is the most powerful sound I have ever heard, but it's perfected, not dark and distorted like Korn or Slipknot or something. It just has a special quality you have to hear before you can understand how amazing it is.

I turned into such a Godsmack freak over one summer last year - they replaced my beloved Metallica to be honest with you. And that takes muscles. Just get it, you'll know what I'm talking about. See Sully, Tommy, Tony and Robbie jam live once - wow. I've seen them more than once. In fact in Des Moines Sully took a picture of my Godsmack tat on my arm - look for it in the next album coming out October 31 from Alcatraz Island!!! My nickname is even Sully cuz my friends watch my obsession.

I'm sayin man - they're good.

First, allow me to say that ALL of the Godsmack material to date is kick ... hard rock. Compare them to whom ever you want, the other band will emerge pale in comparison. Now, go buy all the albums and go see the shows - you will agree !!

While many people generalize that GS is from "Boston" - that is not exactly true. They claim to hail most recently from Salem, MA - the Witch City. I lived there for a few years - cool place but too many tourists - awesome to be there at the end of October.

In speaking with some friends (who had mutual friends with GS members) - I find out that at least a couple band members grew up in and around Southern NH. This is where I live, now - also a cool place to live.

Go to Boston, if you want some grime and crime. Go to Salem, if you wanna get Smack'ed !!

this band is one of if not the best metal band to ever come out of massechussetts i highly recomend this CD to any rock or metal fans.

this opening effort by godsmack is at times outstanding , and other times i feel comatose,but all in all i think it is a good heavy metal album , that true metal heads should own, look forward to even better material in the future

seattle has moved away from grunge and into a louder pulsing metal edge with godsmack. bad religion, voodoo, and whatever are the highlights to this album, but there are no bad tracks. to this date, it's spend at least half of its time with me in my cd player.
