Fall Out Boy Tease New Album “Folie A Deux” On New MixtapePhoto: Getty If you were playing along with Fall Out Boy’s “Citizens For Our Betterment” viral game that Pete Wentz constructed, FOB rewarded you today with a new mixtape entitled Welcome to the New Administration. The tape was curated by Wentz and mixtape maestro Clinton Sparks and features spoken word interludes via Ludacris, a smattering of songs by Fueled By Ramen artists and six demos that will eventually find themselves on Fall Out Boy’s new album Folie A Deux. Folie A Deux will be released on November 4th, which is Election Day, as reinforced by the ballot box-themed website where you can download Welcome to the New Administration. As for the non-FOB standouts on the mixtape, check out Cobra Starship’s “I Kissed A Boy,” an obvious homage to the Katy Perry song. Fall Out Boy also promise a “special message” on their website tonight at 7PM EST, so tune into that. The Academy Is… on Warped 2008: “It’s a Revolution Like 1991 in Seattle”Photo: Getty The 2008 edition of the Warped Tour wrapped up this past weekend, and it saw the rise of Katy Perry, the arrest of Travis McCoy and a whole lot of sunburned kids screaming along to Against Me! songs. For Adam Siska, the bassist of Chicago’s the Academy Is… (whose excellent new album Fast Times at Barrington High is out this week), it’s been a historic summer. “It’s a good time in music right now,” he told Rolling Stone’s Christian Hoard. “There’s Gym Class Heroes, Against Me!, us, Everytime I Die — there’s a lot of good bands on this tour. There’s a revolution happening. It could be like 1969, or 1991 in Seattle. It feels like something’s happening again. I don’t know what it is, but something’s happening.” Beckett also wasn’t bothered by the whispers that ticket sales were down this summer. “Ticket sales don’t mean anything as long as our fans are coming. There’s not just pop punk. There’s a lot of things happening here. Festivals are meant to be diverse, and if tickets sales are down then it’s the fans’ problem for not coming out.” Related Stories: • Katy Perry and Gym Class Heroes on Their Warped Tour Adventure • Paramore Kick Off Warped Tour Jaunt in St. Louis • Gym Class Heroes Frontman Arrested at Warped Tour Stop

Random Notes: Gym Class Heroes, Madonna and the Week in Rock Random Notes took a vacation last week, but it’s back with a vengeance today. Speaking of vengeance, Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy extracted some on a racist concert goer last week in St. Louis, which ended in his arrest and apologies all around. Joining McCoy was Amy Winehouse (who got back at a Budweiser box) and Gene Simmons (who took a stand against anybody who thought he didn’t know anything about prostutiion. News Ticker: Guns N’ Roses, Warped Tour, Richie Sambora, Fall Out Boy While we all wait endlessly for Axl Rose to release the long-delayed Chinese Democracy, the makers of Dr. Pepper are being proactive. The soft drink announced they will provide a free can of the soda to everyone in the U.S. if the album drops this year. “It took a little patience for us to perfect Dr Pepper’s special mix of 23 ingredients, so we completely understand and empathize with Axl’s [quest] for the perfect album,” said a Dr. Pepper spokesperson. Paramore, Gym Class Heroes, Against Me!, Cobra Starship and others will headline this year’s Warped tour. The forty-six date tour will kick off in Los Angeles on June 20th. Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora was arrested yesterday morning and charged with a DUI after allegedly driving drunk in Laguna Beach, California. Sambora previously spent two stints in rehab in 2007. The risks of playing concerts in Antarctica: After “bad weather” postponed Fall Out Boy’s trip to the South Pole, the band’s “runway” — a part of the Wilkins Ice Shelf — collapsed into the sea. The band remains in Chile until conditions improves.

Rewind: The Week in Rock Daily Paula Abdul debuted her video for “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow” and confirmed that a full-length album and tour are in the works. Of course, that was just the tip of the Abdul iceberg, as American Idol’s semifinals kicked off with the guys‘ and girls‘ performances; four contestants were sent packing. Eminem’s reps confirmed the rapper is writing a book, while Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams spent time blogging this week: announcing a canceled European tour to focus on “internal issues,” and dispelling rumors that they’re breaking up. England handed out its equivalent of the Grammys, awarding Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys and Kanye West Brit Awards. Amy Winehouse also gave her first public performance since entering rehab. T.I., the Roots and Gym Class Heroes all gave us updates on their next albums, and we previewed Panic at the Disco’s release. In honor of the Ray Davies feature in the new issue we posted a comprehensive guide to the Kinks’ discography, featuring twenty-five of the band’s albums.
