Weekend Rock List: Most Gruesome Band Names Because Halloween is right around the corner, this week’s Rock List focuses on bands that are more horrifying than the entire Nightmare on Elm Street series. To honor those groups that frighten the hell out of you before you can even hit “Play” (and those that even make Nas’ new album title seem tame) hit us up with your favorite gruesome band names. Here are five that make us listen with the lights on: Alien Sex Fiend Carcass Cannibal Corpse Flesh Eaters Christian Death [Photo: Dalle/Retna]

Snoop Teams Up With Beckham, Winehouse Appeals Marijuana Charge, Arcade Fire Get Bottled It’s not quite Dr. Dre, but Snoop Dogg has found a new Los Angelino to collaborate with: David Beckham. Snoop and Posh Spice’s hubby have formed an unusual bond (Beckham has even taught Dogg’s kids how to play soccer). The Doggfather says, “We’re talking about putting our money together to do a movie. It’s incredibly exciting. We both love fashion too, and we might even do a fashion label as well.” Amy Winehouse will appeal the marijuana-possession fine she paid after being arrested in Norway. Winehouse didn’t know that agreeing to pay a fine was equivalent to pleading guilty. The incident ultimately forced the singer to cancel her appearance at next week’s MTV’s Woodies. RS Breaking Artist the Black Lips will star in Let It Be, a movie loosely based on the story of alterna-gods the Replacements, as evidenced by the film’s title, which shares its name with an album by Paul Westerberg’s outfit. Repeat, this has nothing to do with the Beatles. The Arcade Fire have become the latest victim of the old British pastime of “bottle-hurling,” as Win Butler took one in the face during the band’s Halloween show in Nottingham. After a second bottle narrowly avoided hitting Butler, the AF singer declared the band would “never play Nottingham again.” Bling king Jacob the Jeweler will plead guilty to two counts of making false statements to investigators. Jacob also faced more severe money laundering charges, but those charges have been dropped thanks to the plea deal. He’s expected to serve roughly three to four and a half years in jail.

Halloween and Bob Dylan: An Unlikely (Yet Fruitful) Collaboration Heath Ledger, Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere and the acts vying to be The Next Great American Band aren’t the only ones pretending to be Bob Dylan this Halloween. Across the nation, Dylanphiles are leaping into the songwriter’s esteemed lyrical tablet searching for possible costume inspirations. The Seattle Weekly offers a few ideas, ranging from the obvious (”Quinn the Eskimo”) to the too-obscure (”Einstein disguised as Robin Hood” from “Desolation Row”). Here’s a few of our own suggestions: For those celebrating solo, there’s the “Mr. Tambourine Man” costume, which pretty much requires two tambourines and the need to play a song for those not sleepy. For the ladies, apply the proper formula of dreary mascara, carry around a deck of cards missing the jacks and the aces and bang — “Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands.” With couples, it’s easier, with options like the Joker and the Thief from “All Along the Watchtower,” or Frankie Lee and Judas Priest from “The Ballad Of … ,” even though we’re not sure what that costume would constitute. If you’re traveling in packs with two nametags and a Jack of Hearts costume, “Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts” may be a route you should consider. Misfits Announce Anniverscary Tour, Foxy Brown: Still Incarcerated, Experience Hendrix Tour Brings Out Big Names All hell breaks loose: The Misfits have announced details for their thirtieth “Anniverscary” tour. Although original lead singer Glenn Danzig will not completely be back in the picture, ghouls will be happy to know that speculation has him making a few guest appearances, hopefully at the Halloween show in New York. Tickets are on sale now. Foxy Brown’s bid to leave Riker’s Island has been denied, forcing the three-month-pregnant MC to remain in jail until a September 7th court date. Brown was incarcerated for parole violations stemming from a litany of charges. Not sure if anyone actually watched the mannish version of Diddy’s Making the Band 4, but Diddy signed Donnie, one of the contestants who didn’t make the final cut, to a solo contract with Bad Boy. LCD Soundsystem will release “Someone Great,” from Sound of Silver, on October 22nd. The single will be backed by three remixes and one live performance. Also, LCD will release “45:33,” an MP3-only song they recorded for Nike-inspired workouts, on CD and vinyl for the first time in November. The five-city Experience Hendrix tour with feature virtuosos like Buddy Guy, The Doors’ Robby Krieger, The Rolling Stones’ Mick Taylor, Robert Randolph, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and many more pros. Full dates after the jump. October 16: Washington, D.C. (Constitution Hall) October 17: New York (Beacon Theatre) October 18: Hampton Beach, N.H. (Casino Ballroom) October 19: Atlantic City, N.J. (Trump Casino) October 20: Waterbury, Conn. (Palace Theatre)

Album Preview: Ryan Adams’ New Record “Easy Tiger”As both Whiskeytown frontman and solo artist, Ryan Adams has been helping damaged lovers fill breakup/makeup mix tapes for more than a decade. While prolific to the point of compulsion nothing he’s done has rivaled his classic solo debut, 2000’s uniformly gorgeous Heartbreaker…until now. The punk troubadour’s new album Easy Tiger - which is playing in our mail room, in our editors’ cars, and may soon be piped in via loudspeaker to the restrooms around here - has us thinking Adams may finally transcend his perpetual next big thing status. If you haven’t already heard the messy, chaotic jam “Goodnight Rose,” which opens the album check it out here. It gives way to the elegiac “Two,” which has Adams lamenting “it takes two when it used to take one” between sincere if roguish apologies for not being a better man. Other great tracks include the churning, almost violent ode to self-destruction, “Halloween Head,” the traditional folk ballad “Pearls On a String,” and “These Girls,” a spare confessional that would fit perfectly next to “Sylvia Plath” on Gold or “Call Me On Your Way Back Home” on Heartbreaker. Easy Tiger seems to prove that Adams — having for years indulged his jones for Grateful Dead-inspired jam band impersonation (and other dubious cravings) — is once again as in touch with the delicate tragedies of life and love as he’s ever been.

Is Britney Spears Performing Next Week? Idol Skips Gwen And Pink For Il Divo, And More Is Britney Spears getting back in the saddle? Rumor has it that the shorn pop star will be performing next Wednesday at the Anaheim House of Blues under the band name M+M’s. The M+M’s supposedly equal Britney and her backup dancers. Interesting … Time for your daily Idol update: Pre-recorded appearances by Gwen Stefani and Pink were set to air at some point during the Idol gives back episode, but were cut for time. Meanwhile, they show raised an astonishing $60 million for charity. Britain’s top rock and pop bands account for nearly £3bn of the country’s wealth. The Rolling Stones and U2 lead the pack, which also includes super-wealthy artists like Paul McCartney (whose divorce has knocked him down a few rungs on the rich UK rocker ladder) plus members of Pink Floyd and Queen. The Arctic Monkeys are about to make chart history by having 18 tracks in the UK singles charts at once. When the charts come out on Sunday it’s expected that all 12 tracks from the band’s new album Favourite Worst Nightmare plus six from their debut Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not will be in the top 200 via internet download sales. Bobby “Boris” Pickett, best known as the singer of Halloween anthem “Monster Mash,” has died of leukemia. He was 69.

A Mix of Tricks 'n Treats From Tapes 'n TapesThe costumes worn by members of Minneapolis indie-rock quartet Tapes 'n Tapes for a Halloween night performance at the Black Cat served as a perfect microcosm of the band's set. A quarter of it was inspired and memorable, the majority of it was passable if not all that exciting, and some was just...
