- HIM Review

I was rather dissapointed by the awful review's of this CD. I love the band and consider all of there CD's to be the best one's in my collection. Ville Valo's lyrics just pull you into a different reality. The bands songs mixed with the Chris Isaak and Blue Oyster Cult's covers of Wicked Game and Don't Fear (The Reaper) make the CD better than imaginable. I don't care what the other reviews say I would consider this one of my favorite CD's.

- Moody melancholy love songs with a hard rock edge

I'm not going to call this Metal since at 30 years old, I know the difference. ;) I will call this CD Hard Rock instead. I really enjoyed this particular CD. I had previously never heard of HIM before chancing upon a copy of this CD. Sometimes ignorance can come home in my shopping bag as a pleasant revelation. This is NOT I'm-An-Angry-Boy-So-I'll-Holler-My-Lungs-Out-Noise masquerading as "music" or "art." The lead vocalist has a clear voice and harmonizes with the other singers in the band nicely. His melancholy voice is quite pleasant and isn't grating or raspy.

I write poetry of my own and I thoroughly enjoy hearing poems in musical form. The mix of images woven into a dark tapestry grabbed my attention straight away. The lyrics read like shadowy poems of love, longing, loss, and bittersweet discoveries along the road of life.

I was pleasantly surprised by this group's cover of Wicked Game. My favorite song on the album is When Love and Death Meet. I am anxious to hear more from this band, and see where the road of the future takes them.

- I love this metal.

I can understand why so many people have come to like this band, it's easy to. They're a perfect mix of pop, goth, and metal, and quite catchy. I bought this never having heard one song, and now love it. I will say I decided to buy based on the two covers. Both are excellent, and I think HIM was born to cover "Wicked Game", musically and lyrically. This singers voice is a great match on all these tracks. Other stand-outs to me are "Your Sweet Six Six Six", "Our Diabolical Rapture", and "When Love And Death Emrace". All have a good hook. Regardless of your taste, minus country, you'll most likely love "Greatest Love Songs 666".

- LOVE IT

This was the first album I purchased by HIM back in 1999. LOVED IT. Recently my car was broken into and everything, including this cd, was stolen. So I was very pleased to find it on Amazon. :) Get it. It is the best album they have done.

- Not the best album, but a good debut......

I am a true HIM fan. They're my favorite band.I have all of their albums, but this one wasn't as good as the others.

1. Your Sweet 666-I love this song!its the best on the album, much better than the newer version.

2.Wicked Game-Um.....this was an ok cover, personally i didn't like the song to start with.

3.Heartless-I don't really care for this song.

4.Our Diabolikal Rapture-Not a big fan of this song either.

5.its all tears(drown in this love)-A great song, great lyrics and just a unique sound over all.

6.When Love and Death Embrace-One of the better songs on the album.

7.The Beginning of the end-A pretty cool song, but doesn't compare to Your Sweet or its all tears

8.(don't fear)The Reaper-AN AWESOME COVER!!!! you HAVE to hear this version!

9.For You-A very deep song, the Drop-D tuning really stands out.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

If you are a true HIM fan or they are you favorite by all means BUY this album, but if you are just getting into them i recommend Deep shadows or Razorbalde to start out on.
