Chances are if you're looking at this you're a pretty big Incubus fan. Thus meaning it's not like it's gonna take a lot of convincing to get you to buy this...if you need any convincing at all.
Why the meager 4 star rating? It's a known fact that Incubus can do no wrong in my book, this is true, but come on, another single with Drive on it? Why? If a person likes Love Hurts they're gonna go for Light Grenades, not a single. The ONLY people who go for singles anymore are collectors. Why spend eight bucks on a CD with three songs and a video when you could spend three dollars more and get the full-length CD with fourteen songs?
If you must continue to put Drive on Incubus singles, at least do major overhauls on it. I'm talking major, like they did when they were touring in support of A Crow Left of the Murder. Something like that.
Other than that, obviously you get Love Hurts and Drive, but you also get Anna Molly and the video for Love Hurts. For collectors this is a nice little pickup thanks to the nice cover art for display purposes. For anyone else, yes these are amazing songs (one of which is sure to define Incubus' career), so you can rest assured that you'll get your money's worth.
Love Hurts (a single internationally) is somewhat hurt by the chorus. It's mainly cause you hear it SO much. But it's a decent song...
"sometimes when i'm alone i wonder * is there a spell that i am under * keeping me from seeing the real thing"
those are nice lyrics. but i noticed that if i repeat it over and over the chorus stands out and gets annoying. it's just too common. more common than a lot of choruses i feel.
but Anna Molly, the first single off the album is gorgeous. the lead guitar work is catchy and you can so dance to this one. the do do do do do do * do do do do do do's are very infectious also.
