<p>Incubus is ready to pave its own way in the modern rock scene. With the brooding and crunchy musical themes of MORNING VIEW, it's almost hard to imagine that the album was written and recorded in the relaxed atmosphere of a California beach house. Drummer Jose Pasillas offers tasty percussive coloring in the breakout single, "Wish You Were Here." The song's trippy verses set against its heavily strummed choruses fits the profile of push-and-pull dynamics that Incubus fans have come to expect. "11am" touches on regret and indecision with some neo-Eastern flavor and Mike Patton-inspired vocalizing by frontman Brandon Boyd. "Float" borrows from traditional Asian music and shows the band's near-fearless spirit of experimentation. MORNING VIEW's most eccentric track is the crafted epic "Just A Phase," whose quirky time signature changes and adventurous arrangement show that Incubus has a great deal more to offer than strategically placed turntable scratches.

- Great CD content, average DVD
Hello:
It is not a mistery that Incubus' Morning View is an exellent piece of work, such as Make Yourself or S.C.I.E.N.C.E, still innovative and creative. Their music has evolved to better rythms and lyrics, and they still have a great variety of styles to play, not just common rock. Take, for example, the difference in style between Just a Phase and Have you Ever.

- Worth Buying CD Twice
I totally thought that it was worth buying the morning view cd for the 2nd time just to get the bonus dvd. Hey a hard core Incubus fan has to do what they have to do. I had to make sure that I could keep my collection complete to date. So I love the dvd..it's funny as hell, and I totally luv it! INCUBUS I LUV YA!!

- Am I the ony one who thought this was a live cd?
If you have Morning View don't pay 13 bucks for the dvd. I did thinking the songs were live. They're not. I gave it 5 stars cause Morning View is a good album, but not good enough to buy twice. I was tricked by the different cover and the "limited tour edition" above the track listings. When I opened the case to find it was the same one I bought last year, I was kinda upset. The dvd is good though. Good video, funny tour stuff.
- Great Album!!!!
This is one of my favorite Incubus albums. All the songs are great and will instantly make you an Incubus fan (if you are not already). This is really a great album to start with if you're curios of Incubus's sound.

- Bonuses probably for collectors only...
As many have said, the DVD content is pretty limited. Tour videos, a music video, and an abundantly useless discography. It speaks of online offers for a "night time" version of the 'Are You In?' video, but if you're like me and just got the album, the video is no longer available.
As for the music, this is probably what Make Yourself should've been. The sound has improved a bit, and Brandon no longer sounds drowned out by the band.
The best songs are '11 am', 'Just A Phase', 'Mexico', 'Under My Umbrella', and 'Aqueous Transmission'. 'Under My Umbrella' is a nice fast pace sound, with an awesome bridge reminiscent of Porcupine Tree. 'Aqueous Transmission' mixes West with the East and is very effective. The only song I really have a problem with is 'Blood On The Ground'; it just isn't the greatest song ever, and the lyrics are pretty bad.
The best thing about this album is how Incubus tries to display as wide a range as can be managed in the nu-metal-esque genre (yes I know they are not nu-metal). There's dynamic changes, occasional variety in instrumentation, dissonance, and genre fusion (see Aqueous Transmission).
If you're into Incubus, this album gets my highest recommendation (second to A Crow Left Of The Murder).
