- OK, just too narrow
OK, I will admit I was disappointed as a seasoned fan to see this rather meager selection. But I cannot give any Indigo Girls CD less than 3 stars - these ladies are just too talented and anyone glossing over the rating without moving to the bottom of the page to read the explanation might mistakenly think poorly of their music. Besides, the selection is not bad except for the last track, which although has been played at numerous concerts, is not even an Indigo Girls song but a cover of the Gladys Knight and the Pips Grammy-winning original. Amy and Emily are such prolific and consistently creative songwriters that it is hard to imagine the last track of a "best of" CD not being Indigo material. Other important songs under the Epic label were left out -- Land of Canaan, Ghost, Let It Be Me, Mystery, The Wood Song, Gone Again, and many, many more. Their more electric rock that was very innovative in terms of harmony and melody was also left out: Trouble, Go, Shed Your Skin, Tether, to name a few. But if this CD gives the newbie the urge to migrate to their other albums (honestly, unlike many artists, every song on their albums are worth hearing) then this CD will have achieved its purpose. Definitely, though, Retrospective is a better starting choice. Better yet, see them live. Amazingly, after more than 20 years, they are still going strong.

- Nevermind the songs, what's wrong with the sound?
While I agree with the above reviewer that 1200 Curfews or Retrospective would be better choices, my beef with this CD isn't the song selection -- which is ok in all. I think every IG fan would pick a slightly different songlist, so there's not going to be pleasing everyone there.
My beef is with the sound quality. In a word, it's terrible. Tinny, hiss-y, shallow, draggy in some places. Half the tracks sound like they were recorded by holding a cell phone toward the stage or with a casette player. (Do those still exist?)
This cd is cheap in price for a reason, folks. The quality is just not there. Spend the extra couple of bucks and get one of the real IG collections.
- Not just for the flannel wearing birkenstock set
I am an indoor person and yet I have traveled over 250 miles in the heat of summer to see these ladies at festivals in Richmond Va and Stone Mountain Georgia. Hearing their music on CD in 2013 takes me right back to the time I bought their album in 1989. The writting is so pithy. There is no feeling of buying a CD and only getting 2 really great songs, every song is performed with intensity and you litterally feel the guitar. I can only say, "The best thing Indigo Girls have ever done for me, is to help me take my life less seriously. It's only life afterall." Thanks for the music Amy and Emily!
- Loved it
Great collection of the classics. This is a great CD if you're looking for something like the best of the Indigo Girls.
- Perfect playlist
I absolutely love this CD. If you're a first time Indigo Girls fan, start with this CD, and you will be hooked!
