Joy Division Album: “Love Will Tear Us Apart [1995] [single]”

I purchased the Love Will Tear Us Apart single as an import upon its release in 1980. At some point it was left out in the sun and rendered unplayable. When the CD era hit I had the opportunity to purchase any of the Joy Division compilations featuring the song, but for some reason never did. The recent reissues of Unknown Pleasures and Closer made it imperative to have the new CD single as well. It serves as a physical, musical and spiritual link between the two JD resissues. IMO this is the greatest single of the 1980s, and I might go even further and say it is the greatest single of all time. You can never get tired of hearing it.

30 years later and Ian's death is still so sad. Joy Division will have a permanent place in music history as one of those bands that we can't get enough of. Unfortunately, their catalog is limited but every song, especially this one, is stellar.

I can't hate on Joy Division, I absolutely love them. That's the only reason this gets more than 1 star. The audio quality of this vinyl was pathetic. It looks pretty, but not good for much else. Might turn into a high-end coaster.

To be honest I'm not sure why this exists. There have been some reissues of Joy Divisions 7" vinyls, such as "An ideal for living" and "atmosphere". This isn't a reissue, as these two songs never were issued together in the first place. The mix for both of these songs are different from the ones you are used to hearing, and not as good either. Oh, and My copy came on transparent purple vinyl.

What else to say about "love will tear us apart", it takes you out of darkness to send you in hell of feelings, if you need a robe here it is but not for up, this is going down...
