Mariah Carey Plots Tour, Dispels Rocky Marriage RumorsEven though the album came out in April, Mariah Carey is finally plotting out a tour in support of her E=MC2. “We’re looking at November right now,” Carey told MTV. “Please don’t hold me accountable if it turns out to be December 5 or December 7 or January 18!” Before she hits the road, Carey will perform at both the Teen Choice Awards on August 4th and Fashion Rocks at NY’s Radio City Music Hall on September 5th. Much like her last tour — when Carey changed her wardrobe nine times over the course of one concert (kinda like her episode of MTV’s Cribs) — Mimi promises the shows will be “elaborate.” As for the rumored troubles between her and husband Nick Cannon following their self-promotional shotgun wedding, Carey says the couple are “good.” “Life is beautiful, and things are going well,” Carey said before asking fans to just be happy for her and stop rumor-mongering. Les Paul to Be Honored By Rock Hall With American Music Masters ConcertPhoto: Wintrow/Getty Guitarist Les Paul will be honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Gibson Guitars on November 15th as part of this year’s American Music Masters series. “The Wizard of Waukesha: The Life and Legacy of Les Paul” will hit the stage of Cleveland’s Playhouse Square State Theatre and feature a week’s worth of events dedicated to the guitar pioneer, including panels, film screenings and even an academic conference. The tribute culminates with a concert on the 15th, which organizers hope the 93-year-old Paul can attend. Paul was inducted into the RRHOF in 1988 and performed a sold-out show at the venue in 2004. The list of performers that will play the concert will be announced soon. Paul is only the second living American musician to be honored by the American Music Masters series; past honorees include Sam Cooke, Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly. At last year’s tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis, the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde, George Thorogood and Kris Kristofferson took the stage.

New Kids on the Block Celebrate First New Album in 14 Years in NYCPhoto: Kempin/Getty Last night the reunited New Kids on the Block were in a playful mood as they celebrated their first new LP in 14 years at New York’s Marquee. “Do you think this song was better then, or now?” Joey McIntyre wondered aloud as “The Right Stuff” came blaring through the speakers. The DJ’s playlist included several NKOTB hits including “Hangin’ Tough,” the new “Single” (from The Block, out this week) and a track featuring Akon called “Put It on My Tab.” Swarms of die-hard fans were thrilled to party with their favorite childhood group, shamelessly tossing business cards and attempting to brush up against the five singers. Coming back onto the scene after a decade and a half, it was clear that the band are still trying to figure out who their fanbase is. “We hear a 15-year-old’s ringtone blasting ‘Summertime’ and we’re thinking, ‘Is this our demographic?” McIntyre said. “Working with Ne-Yo was amazing,” he added, of the R&B star who worked on “Single.” “He’s a class act through and through — a singer, writer and performer, a triple-threat.” The album also features Lady GaGa, the Pussycat Dolls and production by Polow da Don (Fergie’s “London Bridge,” Usher’s “Love in This Club”). The group will kick off their tour on September 18th in Toronto and remain on the road through late November. “We’re most excited about the Boston shows,” said Danny Wood of the group’s September 26th and 28th hometown gigs. Wood also revealed that VH1 will be airing three songs live from the second Boston show. Otep Win MySpace Voter Registration Contest, Rocking Denver TonightPhoto: Getty Like the Democratic nominee himself, Otep have been relying on first time voters this summer. As recent winners of Rock the Vote and MySpace’s DemROCKracy contest, which kicked off on July 1 and encouraged bands with MySpace pages to have their fans register to vote, Otep was awarded a spot on the bill of Rock the Vote’s Ballot Bash tonight, joining Fall Out Boy, N.E.R.D. and Jakob Dylan on stage at Denver’s Elli Caulkins Opera House. The contest awarded a spot on the bill to the band registering the most fans using their online voter registration tool. “We got involved about 48 hours before the contest ended. It was pretty intense,” Otep, the band’s front-woman and bold anti-war lyricist told RollingStone.com. The band registered 532 voters in two days. In 2008 alone, Rock the Vote’s online voter registration tool has helped over one million young people secure their spots at the polls, with an expected two million 18-29 year olds registered by the time November rolls along. It’s fitting that Otep, an anti-Bush, socially conscious band who have been speaking out against the war since it’s start in 2002, and whose MySpace page boasts a “Countdown to Bush’s last day,” should take the grand prize. “I’ve always been naturally politically minded,” Otep says. “I tend to like to stand up against what I see as unfair and evil — especially something that is glaringly unjust. I don’t know how to separate art from life.” Since 2004, Otep has called for the end of the Bush/Cheney administration at nearly every show. But the band’s not all talk: last year, they recorded their entire album in New Orleans to help out the city’s economy. “It’s the trickle down effect of the Bush administration. When we were there, we were blown away by what wasn’t happening,” she says. “The devastation of the area. The FEMA trailers sitting in enclosed parameters, like internment camps.” The band is also involved with the environmental organization Carbon Rally, and has worked with M

Patrick Dempsey: Avon Man!No one is more surprised than dreamy Patrick Dempsey that he's launching a new men's cologne with Avon this fall. "I can't believe I have a cologne, it's really hysterical, and people really enjoy it!" he joked at last night's NYC launch party for "Patrick Dempsey Unscripted." The "Grey's Anatomy" hunk credits his wife, makeup artist and Avon consultant Jillian, with getting him on-board for the fragrance, which launches in November: "I couldn't imagine doing it with anybody else. We worked very closely and I think that's part of the fun. It kind of brought us together as a couple in a lot of ways."

Jennifer Love Hewitt did it for herselfLast November, people were disappointed to see the results of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s eat-everything-in-sight and-wear-a-bikini diet. She defended herself by saying she didn’t have to defend herself and that everyone was mean for calling her fat because she’s only a size 2. Except, everyone laughed and said, “maybe a size 2 times 5!” Anyway, Jennifer ...
