Just when we were growing fond of calling LCD Soundsystem’s upcoming album “TBA,” James Murphy and Co. revealed today on their DFA Records site that the band’s third album will have a proper title, This Is Happening. David Byrne Hooks Up With Brazilian Girls for “Losing Myself”

New York dance trio Brazilian Girls have teamed up with former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne for “Losing Myself,” a new collaboration that hits iTunes today. A version of the song featuring French lyrics originally appeared on the group’s 2008 album New York City. The Brynified rendition features not only English but also the closest thing you’ll ever get to David Byrne actually rapping. “Losing Myself” is Byrne’s third hip-hop/dance-flavored collaboration of 2009, and it’s only March: He hooked up with Breaking duo N.A.S.A. for a pair of tracks, “The People Tree” and “Money,” and teamed with Dizzee Rascal on “Toe Jam,” which featured on Fatboy Slim’s BPA album I Think We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat. Plus, the former Talking Head reportedly has a concept album with Fatboy Slim titled Here Lies Love due out at some point this year. And this all follows Byrne’s acclaimed 2008 collaboration with Brian Eno, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. “Losing Myself” grooves like a funky LCD Soundsystem jam. Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem Extend Tour, Guns N’ Roses Reunite (Maybe, and Without Axl), The Shins Turn You On

The colossal tour featuring The Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem will thankfully grace cities other than Louisville and St. Paul, as more dates have been added. The first addition: An October 6th show on NYC’s Randall’s Island. According to former member Steven Adler, at least 80% of the original Guns N’ Roses lineup will reconvene at the Key Club in L.A. to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Appetite for Destruction. This makes two more members than first announced. The missing one-fifth, Axl Rose, is on the guest list, but unlikely to show up. Rihanna, fresh off of breaking UK chart records with “Umbrella,” is getting all synergistic by releasing her own line of umbrellas. The Shins’ “Turn On Me” single, out September 3rd, will sport a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Breathe,” as well as their contribution to the TV show Weeds, as B-sides. The Album Is Dead! Long Live the Album!

As record sales continue to tank by the week, artists and fans are getting crazy nostalgic for the halcyon days of the disc. But maybe the death of the full-length LP has been greatly exaggerated: Could the album actually be waging a comeback? The new video game Rock Band will feature entire albums as templates for aspiring rockers. First up is the Who’s Who’s Next. Metallica, who’ve long resisted putting their music online, will include “Enter Sandman,” with more tracks available in the future. Last weekend at the Pitchfork Music Festival, three headliners performed albums in their entirety: drone-rockers Slint revisted their 1991 cult classic Spiderland, Sonic Youth tore through their 1988 noise-rock masterpiece Daydream Nation and Wu-Tang rapper GZA unleashed his 1995 album Liquid Swords. Reissues are coming out at ridiculous rates. Some are records we thought we bought just yesterday, like Foo Fighters’ repackaging of their 1997 disc The Colour and the Shape. iTunes has been offering up full albums for sale at bargain-bin rates (well, $5.99 and $6.99), focusing on Next Big Thing artists like LCD Soundsystem.
