Led Zeppelin: The Story of the Most Sought-After Rock Reunion Is in the New Rolling StoneIf the neckerchief and finger pointing didn’t give it away, let us clue you in: Led Zeppelin graces the cover of the new issue of Rolling Stone. To mark their reunion concert on December 10th (and their impending tour in 2008?), we’re offering a blimp-sized amount of content. For starters, we have an excerpt from the cover story, with Rolling Stone’s David Fricke talking to Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham. Love Zeppelin but hate reading? Click below to check out an exclusive audio excerpt from the interview in which Plant talks about how getting the band back together was “no big deal” and how having John Bonham’s son on drums has changed the dynamics of the group. Click here for a Zeppelin photo gallery spotlighting the band in their heyday. Check back for even more Zeppelin coverage in the next few days, too.

How Wyclef Jean Got His Groove Back With Shakira: Q&A, Plus Listen to Jean Talk Pink Floyd, Led Zep When Wyclef Jean was just a young kid from Haiti, he was a huge fan of Christian rock. Yes, Jean was a Stryper fan. There you’ll also find exclusive audio of Wyclef talking about losing and reclaiming inspiration, how Pink Floyd’s The Wall influenced his new solo album, Carnival II (Memoirs of an Immigrant), and how Led Zeppelin have left their mark on hip-hop. Robert Plant Laughs Off Led Zeppelin Reunion RumorsFor several days, a skepticism-inducing rumor has been making its way around the Internet, claiming that Led Zeppelin will reunite for a show memorializing late Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun, then head out on a tour. Mr. Robert Plant himself has now reportedly denied these claims, and even made a joke about the purported reunion: “If there was one, then there wouldn’t be enough doctors to support it!” Photo:Barnatt/Referns/Retna

Velvet Revolver’s Duff McKagan Claims Potential Led Zeppelin Opening Slot Velvet Revolver is the frontrunner to open up for Led Zeppelin if the band were to go on a full reunion tour, says VR’s Duff McKagan. “I understand that we have it, although I imagine there will be plenty of bands prepared to kick and punch us out of the way for the privilege!” said McKagan. One of those bands who will likely fight it out is the Cult, as lead singer Ian Astbury told a Cincinnati crowd last November that his band would be opening for the Zep reunion tour. Another potential wrench in the works would be Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland’s tour with a reunited Stone Temple Pilots. No Zeppelin reunion tour has been announced, as Robert Plant has scheduling commitments to his joint tour with Alison Krauss until September. [Photo: Getty]

Rewind: The Week in Rock Daily Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin! Rock Daily was your source for all things Zep-reunion related, from David Fricke’s full live report (plus the set list) to photos of the band in action to the behind-the-scenes story to all the post-show rumor-mongering. As a bonus, we indulged one uber-fan’s overly enthusiastic voicemail message and started up a Zep Tour ‘08 petition. Rock pioneer and R&B giant Ike Turner died at the age of seventy-six. Danger Mouse told us, “I was fortunate enough to discover his many gifts to rock & roll and modern music, but also his great redemption as a man” in Anthony DeCurtis’ obituary. Madonna, John Mellencamp and Leonard Cohen were among those named as inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2008. Rolling Stone began listmania ‘07 by unleashing our list of the 100 Best Songs of the Year. Snoop Dogg and Wyclef Jean popped by the RS offices — so we had the Doggfather explain the genius behind his “Sensual Seduction” video and asked ‘Clef for an impromptu performance of his new track “Fast Car.” [Photo: Halfin/Getty]

Robert Plant on the Led Zeppelin Rehearsals: The Band Has “Done It. It’s There.” We couldn’t fit every quote from David Fricke’s extensive interview with Led Zeppelin into his cover story, so here’s a bonus: additional Q&A excerpts from his conversations with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and Jason Bonham for you to savor just days before the year’s most anticipated concert, by the band that was blowing minds even before its first album was released, in early 1969. “I remember playing it for my friends before it came out and seeing their jaws drop,” Jones said, laughing, in Fricke’s interview. “I had these big speakers, sat people down and said, ‘Listen to this.’ And everybody looked like, ‘Bloody hell!’ ” To check out Page talking about how the band developed their live show and wrote “Achilles Last Stand,” Plant discussing his personal struggles in the Seventies and working on the band’s early albums, and Bonham recalling his relationship with his father, click here.

Rock List: Led Zeppelin Dream Setlist Last week, with the Led Zeppelin reunion concert less than a month away, we asked you, Zep Nation, to help draw up a dream Led setlist. Jimmy Page said recently that the show would feature “a lot of songs that people would want to hear,” which roughly translates into Zeppelin playing all their albums and maybe half of Coda. So we shortened the list. After tabulating all the votes, we’ve decided that this (surprisingly In Through the Out Door-free) setlist would serve as the perfect show on December 10th at London’s O2 Arena: “Immigrant Song” “Black Dog” “Ramble On” “The Rain Song” “No Quarter” “Dazed & Confused” “Misty Mountain Hop” “In The Light” “In My Time of Dying” “Bring It On Home” “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” “Whole Lotta Love” “Kashmir” Encores: “Stairway To Heaven” “When The Levee Breaks” “The Ocean”

Fans Clamor for Pink Floyd Reunion Tour, Dave Grohl Offers to Drum for Led Zeppelin, DMC Scores an Emmy A Europe-wide poll has revealed the people want a Pink Floyd reunion tour. Twenty-six percent of 5,000 census takers said that they would like to see a full-scale version of what PF fans were briefly teased with at 2005’s Live 8 concert. Unfortunately, Floyd guitarist David Gilmour told us he doesn’t think a reunion is going to happen. Rounding out the top five in the survey were Abba, Guns N’ Roses, The Jam and Talking Heads. A twenty-year-man died at the Smashing Pumpkins concert in Vancouver on Monday night. The victim was reportedly either crowd surfing or moshing in the moments before his death; foul play is not suspected. Stone Gossard’s non-Pearl Jam side project Brad will reunite for one night only when they appear at NYC’s Webster Hall for a tribute to both Woody and Marjorie Guthrie and the 40th anniversary of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. The October 17th show will also feature a performance by Billy Bragg and hosting duties by actor Tim Robbins. Foo Fighter Dave Grohl has offered his drumming services to Led Zeppelin when they reunite November 26th at London’s O2 Arena. “I’m at Led Zeppelin’s beck and call,” says Grohl, who will likely attend the Ahmet Ertegun tribute event. Darryl McDaniel, or the DMC in Run-DMC, added another trophy to his likely large fireplace mantle after winning an Emmy last night for his VH1 rockumentary DMC: My Adoption Journey. The Celebrity Rap Superstar judge beat out CBS stalwart Mike Wallace and two PBS docs to win the award.

Led Zeppelin to Play Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert on November 26 in London The rumors are true: On November 26th, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham will perform at a tribute to late Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun at the 02 Arena in London. According to a press release, Zeppelin will headline the event, which will also feature music by Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner, and Paolo Nutini. (More performers are almost certain to be announced.) Rumors that a Zeppelin reunion show was in the works took off when flyers were posted around London announcing the sale of tickets to a Led Zeppelin concert at the arena. Profits from the event will go to the Ahmet Ertegun Educational Fund. The Web sites for both the 02 arena and ahmettribute.com (where the ticket lottery is located) have already crashed due to excessive traffic. Read the full press release (which includes quotes from Plant and some of the other performers) below: TRIBUTE TO AHMET ERTEGUN NOVEMBER 26, 2007 O2 ARENA, LONDON Harvey Goldsmith Announces A Tribute Concert To The Late Ahmet Ertegun In Aid Of The Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund LONDON — One of the most eagerly awaited concerts of the decade will celebrate the life and work of Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records and much missed mentor to some of the greatest names in music. In addition, a music scholarship open to all will be established at Ravensbourne College in the UK. The incomparable Led Zeppelin will headline the tribute to the man who founded Atlantic Records in 1947. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones will be joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham. In addition, Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paolo Nutini, all touched by Ertegun’s guiding hand over the years, will play on the night. Paolo was the final British art

Led Zeppelin Book Press Conference, “Dick in a Box” Wins an Emmy, Gwen Stefani Says No Doubt May Return to Their Ska Roots Led Zeppelin has scheduled a press conference for this Wednesday in London, Billboard reports, fueling speculation that the band is preparing a reunion announcement. Early last week hysteria over an alleged Zeppelin show advertisement in London led to reports that the group had placed the 02 arena on hold for a night. Though Robert Plant previously laughed off reunion rumors, the band has yet to issue a comment about the latest developments. Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg’s SNL skit-song “Dick in a Box” won an Emmy for Best Original Music and Lyrics at the Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday. American Idol also nabbed its first-ever Emmy for its charity special “Idol Gives Back.” The primetime awards (which may be “Dick”-free) air next week. A cut from Hanson’s latest album became the most requested song on Chicago’s alternative radio station Q101 after DJs played “The Great Divide” for three weeks without disclosing its artist. After it was revealed, the track saw a 95 percent increase in digital downloads. Gwen Stefani is hinting that No Doubt could return to its roots and make a ska record when they re-enter the studio together this fall. Stefani also indicated she is “coming to the end of my own chapter” with her dance records. Starz Cinema will premiere Too Tough to Die: A Tribute to Johnny Ramone on September 15th, the third anniversary of the Ramones guitarist’s death. [Photo: Wilson/Getty]

Jimmy Page Testifies in Bootlegging Trial, Alice in Chains Announce Acoustic Gigs, Sebastian Bach Gets a New Deal Led Zeppelin/Yardbirds/Black Crowes guitarist Jimmy Page has a new gig … as a prosecution witness in a Scottish bootlegging trial being held this week. Page has been recruited to provide evidence against Robert Langley, a businessman accused of trying to sell over 2,400 pirated CDs and DVDs, many of which were of Led Zeppelin. Sharon Osbourne’s father Don Arden, who helped foster the careers of Black Sabbath, Small Faces and ELO, has passed away at the age of 81. Now that there are no more episodes of the Gilmore Girls to star in, Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach is spending his free time working on a new album and record label. Alice in Chains will play four acoustic-only shows during the off days of their upcoming tour with Velvet Revolver. Check out the trailer for Wes Anderson’s new film The Darjeeling Limited. It’s like Rushmore, but in India. Photo: Wilson/Getty
