Backstage With Interpol at Madison Square Garden Friday night, a trio of New York acts known for playing small clubs all graduated to the biggest venue in the city: Madison Square Garden. Rock Daily tagged along as Interpol rested up and soundchecked before the show (Cat Power and the Liars completed the night’s lineup), and snapped photos of things like the band’s neatly manicured wardrobe as they prepared for their MSG debut. Click here to find out how the band prepped for the gig (and their favorite MSG memories) along with the photo gallery.

News Ticker: Outside Lands Fest, Jimi Hendrix, Coldplay, John Lennon Lupe Fiasco, the Black Keys, Liars and Kaki King are among the performers that have been added to the inaugural Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco. The fest, to be held August 22-24, already boasts headliners Radiohead, Beck, Wilco, Ben Harper and more. Vivid Video, proud sellers of sex tapes starring Kim Kardashian and Pamela Anderson, are getting set to release a video that supposedly features Jimi Hendrix cavorting with two brunettes. Critics have dismissed the man in the grainy video (selling for $39.95) is Hendrix, while two former lovers of the rocker insist it’s Jimi. As promised, Coldplay are now allowing fans to download the song “Violet Hill,” the first single from the band’s Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends for free free one week. If you don’t want to submit your email info, you can also listen at the band’s MySpace page. John Lennon’s handwritten lyrics for “Give Peace a Chance” will hit Christie’s auction block in July. The lyrics are expected to retrieve between an estimated four and six hundred thousand dollars. [Photo: Getty]

LISTEN UP: Indie-an SummerGet Him Eat Him aren't nearly as willfully bizarre as their name would lead you to believe - they're actually a great deal of fun, those liars - and Stereogum gives us two of their tracks, plus this picture of the band with their idol, George Harrison. If anyone asks, I did not type that. If you haven't heard Matt Pond PA, nab this track from Neiles Life, and it'll pleasantly surprise you every time it shuffles by on your iPod. Just like the "Fraggle Rock" theme. For our unreadable blog entry of the day, unless you retain more from your three years of Spanish than myself, Lito Music tosses us two extremely upbeat tracks from The Icicles. I'm not sure what their name means in English, though. Maybe "fire"? Another Tegan and Sara song? Well, there's two band members, so I might as well post them two days in a row. This precident does not apply when Funkadelic puts out their next album. (Dreams of Horses) Bleedin' Out posts a handful of tracks, including one New Pornographers, one of DOA covering Nirvana, and a live version of one of my guilty pleasures, Rush's "The Spirit of Radio." Also, I may or may not have seen Rush in concert. And they may or may not have had a big dragon projected onto a screen who blew fire and then fire flared up around the front of the stage.
