Lady Liberty Gets a BindiPhoto: Animal New YorkIt looks like Lady Liberty is the latest victim of Photoshopping. In an advertisement for Jet Airways outside Penn Station, the Statue of Liberty is shown sporting a bindi on her forehead. It was only a matter of time, really. As Animal New York points out, she’s already wearing a sari. The company proclaims itself to be “India’s finest international airline,” with over 380 flights daily across 43 destinations within India. But despite their promise that “India just got closer,” there’s no getting past the fact that India is still at least a fourteen-hour flight from New York. Originally from Burgettstown, PA., at the age of 16 she boarded a bus in Washington, PA. enroute to Hollywood, CA. Today, three Columbia icon photos sent to her by the studio in 1975 adorn a wall in the room of the nursing home where she lives. A stroke has robbed her of the ability to speak.
