This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.

Mudvayne: Chad Gray (vocals); Greg Tribbett (guitar); Ryan Martinie (bass guitar); Matt McDonough (drums).

While some of its rap-metal contemporaries deserted the hip-hop half of the equation in favor of concentrating on death metal or neo-grunge, Mudvayne decided to keep the nu-metal torch burning with LOST AND FOUND. A veritable machine of complex rhythmic insanity that would make even Fishbone sit up and take notice, Mudvayne comes roaring out of the gate with a set that is as funky as it is heavy.

Drummer Matt McDonough and bassist Ryan Martinie play as if they are the same person, tossing off impossibly complex lock-step riffs ("Determined," "Just") like most bands hit an open E chord. On "Happy?" and "Fall into Sleep," singer Chad Gray moves from a throat-shredding rasp to sweet melodicism at the drop of a hat, taking angst-filled lyrics to new heights of dark obsession. Luckily, despite the inherent negativity of Gray's words, the seemingly boundless energy and impressive musicianship of LOST AND FOUND make for an uplifting listening experience.

- The good...the bad...and the ugly
Mudvayne always have made some of the more original metal in the past few years. LD 50 in particular was full of clever music...complete from drums, to guitar, to vocals, and particularly in bass. Now, with Lost and Found, the band continues to attempt to push into new frontiers...with mixed results.
The CD itself has some polar differences. This is not one that can be digested after only one listen. The song structures and track layout gives the CD a lot of variety, which is kinda odd at first. Aside from Rain.Sun.Gone and Choices, which transition seemlessly (you won't even notice the track changed at first), the rest of the CD goes from one extreme to the other. The heavier tracks (Determined, IMN, Just) are all spread out. The obvious singles (Happy? & Fall Into Sleep) give hooks you haven't really heard from Mudvayne much before aside from World So Cold...they have a mainstream sound, but at the same time it does not sound like anything else on the radio. They both work. But there are without a doubt disposable tracks 3/4 of the way through. And Choices really didn't have to be 8 minutes long!
The DVD side isn't anything spectacular. There are "videos" for Determined and Happy?, though they cut in-studio and making of footage into the videos (they are not the same videos you see on Headbangers Ball). Aside from that, its kinda dull actually. The DVD audio sounds spectacular though.
Determined, Happy? & Fall Into Sleep will enter the Mudvayne "greatest hits" category now. While nothing else is terrible, nothing is out of the world great either.

- I could tell you how it was, IF I COULD PLAY IT!
I, like a few others have stated, got the Dual Disc thinking it would be a two disc set. After all, that's what my Rob Zombie - Past, Present, and Future was called: a Dual Disc. In it was a CD and a DVD, both of which I could play. However, I can't get this thing to play on my PC for the life of me, either side in any drive. I've tried it on my friend's computers as well, but to no avail. Since I don't do a whole lot of driving unless making a long trip, my PC is my primary music playing device.
From what I've heard from the singles, it's a fine album. And I've heard some of the other songs and thoroughly enjoyed them as well. But for heaven's sake, avoid the Dual Disc like the plague. It will only bring you headache and frustration.
- Amazon's description is wrong.
I already had this album on CD, bought it specifically because Amazon's product description states "entire album in 5.1 surround". Guess I should have read the reviews first.
- In what way is this nu metal?
i do like a couple bands considered nu metal, ill admit that, but mudvayne ISNT nu metal. they are pure metal with their own special twist. this cd is great i think i reviewed the regular version back when it was released, and i definitely recommend it to any metalhead.
- Buying DualDisc was a mistake
God, I love this band and this album. A seriously high-quality heavy music experience. 7+ very strong tracks.
But it wasn't worth even the extra 50 cents to get this on DualDisc. Why would they slap on two mutilated "videos" (quotes intended - F Determined, and Happy - and F Determined is SO good as is, on their website) and think that was anything other than an insult to fans? Who wants to see half-baked computer cuts of Happy, mucking up the flow of the video? Why would you not just let us have both video and studio versions of F Determined? Do you think this is something I want to show my friends, or even watch a 2nd time myself? Come ON.
Not to mention that my computer can't read the DualDisc, so I can't take this music with me (for God sake, there ARE some people out there that don't download or share music, they just don't carry frickin Discmans with them).
Make this right, Sony and Mudvayne. Let us download the full unmucked video versions of F Determined from the website. I'll fight through the MP3 problem myself (and you KNOW I will - update: Hold down the Shift key as you put the CD in your computer - duh, I should have remembered this).
