- NfG = Greatness
Well, NfG is my favorite band and this is thier best Cd so far. Drive Thru Record's best band!
This is the playlist and their ratings for "Sticks and Stones'
1. Understatement-10/10-Great leadoff song, latest single, my favorite song on the album.
2. My Friends Over You-10/10-First single, awesome lyrics, great song
3. Sonny-9.5/10-Not as good as the first two songs but still an awesome song, kind of sad beacause it is about Jordans grandfather that died.
4. Something I Call Personality-9.8/10-The best music on the Cd, lyrics are good but song is only 2:40 long. I like the when they say "Lets Go" and "Hell Yeah"
5. Head On Collision-9.4/10-Second single on the Cd, very good lyrics but the chorus could be better.
6. It's Been a Summer-10/10-Second best song on the album, song about a summer where he meets a girl.
7. Forget My Name-8.5/10-Good song with good drums and overall music.
8. Never Give Up-9/10-Not the best but really good.
9. The Great Houdini-8.5/10-Different song, still good though.
10. Singled Out-8/10-Probably my least fvorite song on the album but still a great song.
11. Belated-8.2/10-A little better that "Singled Out" a slower paced song.
12. The Story So Far-10/10-A great way to end the Cd, makes you want to listen to the Cd over and over again. If you fast forward to the end of this song there is the band talking, very funny.

- Dear, Your name here...
A New Found Glory is a most germane name for this Florida native band. Recently releasing their third chart topping album, "Sticks and Stones" proved a huge milestone for the band. The album is composed of creative love lyrics and the original sound NFG has carried in their career. The lyrics describe past relationships gone wrong with songs like "Head On Collision" and "My Friends Over You". The musical sound stretches from fast-paced emo to the slow tempo of a ballad. Passionate writing of relationships allows a wide range of people to relate to the songs. Along with the powerful and distinct voice of Jordan Punkik (lead singer), this CD is a must-have.
Although creative and most enjoyable, many fans would agree, "Sticks and Stones" didn't surpass the quality of NFG's self-titled sophomore album (which has proved to be their best release to date). This CD was more formulated, was not as raw, and possessed more of the "pop" sound many alterntive/punk/rock groups try to avoid. NFG lost some of their underground, punk-influenced edge they once had. Regardless, it's a fine piece of art.....I give it four stars.

- This is all getting out of hand
Punk is not about listening to bands like the MIsfits and T.S.O.L and other old punk bands. Punk is about not following the crowd and doing stuff your own way and not letting other people get in the way of your own intrests. SO technically if the pop punk listeners listened to all those idiots telling people to listen to old school punk then they would actually become something their not
Anyway this happens to be a great cd. Very differant from Nothing gold can stay and All about a girl. JOrdan's voice obviously was polished in some way. The instrumentals are actually very similar to the sound of their two first cd's.
Now i guess I am going to review each cd.
Understatment 5/5 An incredibly catchy song that doens't get old very fast. This song will please most NFG fans.
My Friends over you 4/5 Most people will adore this song until about a week after they hear it when this song gets very annoying.
Sonny. 4.5/5 This song has very creative lyrics and a very interesting story.
SOmething I call Personality. 3/5 A song that most people will enjoy but it just doesn't do it for me
Head on Collision. 4/5 Pretty much the same story as My Friends Over you.
It's been a Summer 5/5 Starts with a very catchy riff and stays like that for the whole song.
Forget my Name. 4.5/5 Very good lyrics.
Never Give up 4.5/5 A song that can cheer anyone up
The Great Houdini 5/5 Really catchy
Singled Out. 5/5 Defienntly my favorite on the cd.
Belated. 2.5/5 Pretty good lyrics but just doesn't have the thing that makes te other songs so great
The Story So Far. 5/5 Great finisher
Overall 52/60 A great effort

- Breakout Record
NFG has broken away from the punk/emo garbage that pollutes the airwaves, but has managed to keep the relationship theme that runs through all their albums. Instead of selling out to mainstream, NFG has pulled mainstream to them with Sticks and Stones.
Understatement: 88/100 - "I'm done with everything/That had to do with you/Don't worry your pictures are already burned" Good start to the CD, pretty hard and very catchy.
My Friends Over You: 95/100 - "Please tell me everything/That you think that I should know/About all the plans you made/When I was no where to be found" Hard hitting single and great second song. One of the best on the CD.
Sonny: 98/100 - "Every breath that you remember/Pictures fade away/But memory's forever" My second favorite song. Slows down a bit and talks about losing someone close to you. Awesome chorus.
Something I Call Personality: 85/100 - "Before you jump to conclusions/About all the friends I have/Just remember they were born that way" Not much too this song. Fast paced but it sounds like a filler.
Head On Collision: 97/100 - "Another tragic case of feeling/ Bruised and broken/From our head on collision" Again, NFG sounds great when they slow it down a little. 3rd best song on the CD.
It's Been a Summer: 90/100 - "I don't believe in sure things/There's pain in what the truth brings" Good song about being lonely over summer. Not a huge standout but very catchy.
Forget My Name: 92/100 - "Don't trace your footsteps back to me/Cause I've been gone for a long time/Waiting on the sidelines/Hoping for a chance to play" This song grows on you. It's about always being on the outside looking in, and how when you leave you won't be remembered. Really good lyrics.
Never Give Up: 88/100 - "I'm tired of my conscious/Always telling me to stop sleeping in/But I can't waste a second/On dreams that will never begin" Ok song, nothing to write home about. Good lyrics but a little repetitive. Filler.
The Great Houdini: 91/100 - "I went to your house but you weren't at home/I'm sure you conveniently shut off your phone" Good song about giving up on someone because they are just too much trouble. Catchy song.
Singled Out: 93/100 - "What will you do when there's no one to fall back on/I won't be there/I've learned my lesson" A song about someone leaving their true friends and learning too late that they're all alone.
Belated: 94/100 - "Bridges will fall from under us/But weak or strong/We'll get through this" Good song but not a stand out. Lyrics lack depth but the song is catchy.
The Story So Far: 101/100 - "And everything else is irrelevant/To the story so far" Best song on the CD. Not too slow, great baseline, awesome lyrics, incredible way to end a CD. Contrasts songs like My Friends Over You. Great Song
1122/1200 - Great CD, Buy it and it won't leave your CD player.

- Some more Pop-Punk ...
What is this [junk]? Everyone from Blink 182 to Good Charlotte to this are a bunch of punk-posers. I'm not a hardcore punk fan but at least I can tell the difference between pop and punk. I'm tired of all these MTV poser bands. If you want to hear some real hardcore punk then go listen to Rancid or The Distillers.
