Disco de New Found Glory: “New Found Glory”
Descripción (en inglés) :
New Found Glory: Jordan Pundik (vocals); Chad Gilbert, Steve Klein (guitar); Ian Grushka (bass); Cyrus Bolooki (drums).
Recorded at Elysian Fields Studios, Boca Raton, Florida.
This high-energy quartet performs Blink 182-style pop-punk that owes more of a sonic debt to Green Day than to first-generation types like the Buzzcocks, which means the accent here is on pop. As single-minded in their pursuit of this aesthetic as any great rock band should be, New Found Glory keep it exclusively fast and loud, never pausing for anything as transgressive as a ballad (the title of "Ballad For the Lost Romantics" notwithstanding); they don't even bother adding additional instruments to the arrangements.
The guitar-bass-drums axis reigns unchallenged throughout the album. The only adornment is consistently spot-on vocal harmonies that add just the right amount of pop tinge to New Found Glory's relentlessly hard-charging tunes.

- The best in recent pop-punk.

Yes, even better than MxPx's "The Everpassing Moment". It's THAT good. Every song makes you want to get up, jump around, and sing alone. It's just flat-out catchy. Many songs off of this record will etch a place in your mind for a week or two. "Better Off Dead" and "Boy Crazy" did that to me. After the totally amazing "Nothing Gold Can Stay" (my punk album of the year), the boys went a little bit poppier this time around, but not to the point of, say, Blink-182 or Green Day. They kept it to their own limit, which is perfect. They kept their infectious hooks with lead singer Jordan's amazing, but weird at times, voice. Jordan can hit the high notes, but his voice comes out sounding "electronicized", if you will, like it was sent through a synthesizer or something, like on the new version of "Hit Or Miss". The new version is good, a little rawer, but I still prefer the original. Every song on this album is good, some weaker than others, but still good in their own respect. The best tracks here are "Better Off Dead", "Sincerely Me" (a VERY clever song), "Eyesore", a slower, more mid-tempo song, "Sucker", and "All About Me". "Sincerely Me" has a killer bass line, perfectly played by bassist Ian, and "Dressed To Kill" has some excellent lyrics. If you liked "NGCS" or "From The Screen To Your Stereo", you'd better pick this is pronto. Same with all of you punk fans.

- New Found Glory=Cool Music

1) Better Off Dead: Good intro. song for the album; steady beat; good lyrics and easy to sing along to! 9/10

2) Dressed to Kill: Not the best, the lyrics were whiney and kind of annoying after a while. Pretty good musically though (guitars) 5/10

3) Sincerely Me: Much better than Dressed to Kill-it picks back up here. Good song. 7.5/10

4) Hit or Miss: I LOVE this song! Awesome music, awesome lyrics. One of my favorite songs, not just on this album-one of my favorites in general. 10/10

5) Second to Last: Lots of energy & good beats. This one is pretty cool. 8/10

6) Eyesore: This song really kicks some ass. From the beginning to the end, it's great. Somewhat more mellow than the first 5. 10/10

7) Vegas: OMG this song rocks. This is right up there with Eyesore and Hit or Miss. Just listen to it, it's awesome. 10/10

8) Sucker: Eh. This song isn't BAD, it just kind of gets boring after the first chorus. Don't listen to it too much, cuz it kinda gets old fast. 5.5/10

9) Black + Blue: This song starts out ok, but it gets better and better as the song goes on. Not bad at all. 7/10

10) Boy Crazy: This song is funny, but the lyrics sound like something a boy band would sing. Good entertainment though.

11) All About Her: I like this song. The music and lyrics just seem to fit together really good. Rock on. 8.5/10

12) Ballad for the Lost Romantics: This is a cool one. Good song to close the CD with. 7.75/10

OVERALL-If I could give this CD 4 and a half stars, I would, becaue this CD and this band definately deserve it. They could really be a big hit musically now that punk/pop is getting big. Check out NFG's earlier stuff too. This CD is well worth your money, so go pick it up. You won't be disappointed.

- Hasn't Been Out of My CD Player

I hadn't heard of NFG before the Blink182 show this summer. I was blown away when they came on stage. The day after the concert I bought all three of the CD's. The self titled CD hasn't been out of my CD Player since September. It got me hooked and I saw them again in concert this week.

1.) Better Off Dead-5/5- This song has amazing energy and you just can't help but sing along with it.

- not gonna argue if they're sellouts/pop..just write a review

I personly think this a great CD, no matter what anyone else thinks. I don't think all the songs sound the same, and I do think NFG have talent. But, that's not what I'm here for.

The standout songs on this album are, "Sucker", "Dressed to Kill", and "Sincerely Me" (and notice the bass on that song!). I'd say "Hit or Miss", is a standout song, too, but the version on Nothing Gold Can Stay is WAY better, in my opinion. The songs are for sure catchy, but is that a bad thing? I don't think so. It's not songs you get sick of after hearing them a lot. And you can't really say the songs are all alike: "Boy Crazy" and "Better off Dead"? Alike? Please. I don't know where people get this stuff. To each his/her own, I guess.

Anyway, this is a really good album: it's catchy (though not Britney Spears-catchy...thoguh notice how many times her name in on the CD, like on the concert tics and the guitar!), with good lyrics (alright, so not as good lyrics as Blink 182, Fenix Tx and the likes), with good guitar, and Jordan's voice also rocks. I love this disc. Other bands I like are Blink 182, Fenix Tx, Good Charlotte... ya know. Great disc, buy it.

- Who cares if they aren't punk?

This album has some very catchy tunes. NFG is in no way a punk bad. But do they have to be? As long as you like to listen to the songs who cares what they call it?

People who are punk purists won't like this band because of its radio friendliness and more popular sound. I thought that most of their songs were really good and I like all kinds of music in the genre.

The first 5 songs are very solid. The best probaly being the first song on the album "Better Off Dead". They all have a common pop-punk formula of non-complex verses with a catchy chorus. Along with "Vegas" and "All about Her" you have 7 or 8 songs out of the 12 on the album that you will want to listen to over and over.

The reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is two fold. One, there is no variety in the lyrics. All the songs are about girls and relationships. If you are not in the mood for that there isn't one song on the album you can listen to. Two, their vocals are so polished at times that on songs like "Eyesore" where the band "takes it down a notch" they sound outright N'SYNCish. I know, it scared me too...

"Boy Crazy" seems like a Blink 182 rip off to me...not saying which one in particular....(off the Cheshire Cat album...wink wink)....songs like "Sucker" get lost in the chorus, and "Ballad For The Lost Romantics" for one, isn't a ballad, and two, would have been better if they didn't try to turn it into an anthem.

However, the better songs more than make up for the 2 or 3 songs that don't work. It is well worth the price of admission. They are surprisingly good and I look forward to see what their next release sounds like. This isn't a "gotta have" album for everyone, but if you like Blink, FenixTX, Ataris, etc...you should pick it up. You will most definitely like it.
