Nickelback

Nickelback Album: “The Long Road”

Nickelback Album: “The Long Road”
Description :
Possessing one of the most powerful and distinctive voices in alternative rock, Chad Kroeger led Nickelback to the top of the post-grunge heap with a combination of Metallica-esque riffing and some of the hugest hooks this side of Nirvana. Riding on the massive radio success of the single "Someday," THE LONG ROAD delivers a collection of unusually well crafted lyrics swathed in an energetic blend of massive-sounding de-tuned guitars and rapid-fire vocal rhythms. Throughout, Kroeger spins appropriately angst-ridden tales of hard living and harder love, which are occasionally tempered by (slightly) lighter moments such as the Bob Seger-like road anthem "See You at the Show," and "Feelin' Way Too Damn Good," a classic I've-been-down-so-long-I-can't-get-up rocker. Like contemporary hit-makers Staind and Creed, Nickelback knows how to turn pain into gold, rocking with a winning combination of gut-wrenching power and melancholy tenderness.

- The best thing I've heard yet from Nickelback

I became a Nickelback fan with Silver Side Up. Since then I've aquired their concert DVD, The State, and The Long Road. If Nickelback fans are expecting another Silver Side Up, then don't buy this album, it's not the same. The songs reflect the wild ride that Nickelback has been on since the whirlwind surrounding Silver Side Up. Silver Side Up had a lot of great songs, but in my opinion, the material on the Long Road has more maturity and depth than Silver Side Up. Songs like Figured You Out and Feelin' Way Too Damn Good have both depth and a meloncholy quality that will make this album endure. This album isn't for the occasional rock listener. It's like 80s rock meets 90s edgier music. The music itself is a bit repetitive, although very good. The lyrics are the reason that you must buy this album.

- Nickelback Does It Again

Overall, i am not a big fan of the modern rock coming out these days. However, after hearing "How You Remind Me" on the radio,i really liked it and went out and puchased Silver Side Up. I enjoyed pretty much the entire album so when i saw that The Long Road was being released, I decided to give it a shot. I was not the slightest bit dissapointed. The album is filled with a whole bunch of rockin songs with good meledies that you can help but crank up and sing along to. My personal favorite from the album is "Do This Anymore", a rocking song where chad Kroger really shows off his awesome voice with his combination of singing softly and his ability to belt out lyrics with power while not making it seem like he is just straight out screaming. Other favorites on the album include "Someday", yes its overplayed but still good, "Feeling Way Too Damn Good", and of coarse "Figured You Out" (how can anybody not like that song). so if you liked Silver Side Up than i strongly recemend going out and buying this album

- A Great Album From Nickelback

When I first popped this CD in I wasn't too impressed with it. After listening to it for a couple of days I have TOTALLY changed my mind. I learned one thing, this CD must be played LOUD to be totally appreciated. If you are a fan of hard rock and you play this one loud, YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED! Here's the track by track guide:

1.Flat on the Floor - (3/5) A little scattered, hard song.

If you like Nickelback at all, or if you just like real loud guitars and hard rock in general, don't miss this CD. It is great, when loud....

- Another Great Album From Nickleback...

Ok, so maybe it's not as good as Silver Side Up, but the boys of Nickelback had a HUGE task in front of them to top that masterpiece, and they did pretty well. Most of the tracks are good, but unfortunatly I got the limited editon version which goes on WAY TOO LONG i.e after track 11, I start to get REALLY bored.

Flat on the floor...(Very faced paced, with an awesome chorus. One of the best on the album 9/10)

Do this Anymore...(The beginning is kinda slow, but it kicks in pretty quick with killer verses and an ultra-catchy chorus. Probably one of my favorite songs By Nickelback, period 10/10)

Someday...(Way too overplayed, expecially on Mtv. At first I really liked it, but now I usually skip over to Believe it or not 8/10)

Believe it or Not...(The verses are kinda slow and repetitive, but the chorus is great 8/10)

Feelin way too damn good...(Very well sung, with a nice, melodic ring to it. It has the kinda chorus that'll get you singing along once you learn the words too, which is always a plus 8/10)

Because of you...(The chorus on this one seems almost perfect, right up until the end. The thing is, they try to jam too many words into too little time, and the result is an almost ugly sound. Minus that little detail, its a great song 8/10)

Figured You Out...(The second single, and totally stupid lyrically. Still, it's pretty catchy 7/10)

Should've listened...(The fact that I can't remember how it goes tells me right away that it's forgetable. Too be fair, I wont grade it n/a)

Throw Yourself Away...(Its got a very "Nickelback" sound, which is a good thing. The lyrics are pretty heavy too, kinda like "Never Again" from silver side up 9/10)

Another Hole In The Head...(For some reason, the chorus really stands out for me on this one. That alone makes it worth listening to 8/10)

See you at the show...(Great (offical) closer. The chorus is great, the verses are great, and the song is very catchy. The lyrics are kinda dumb tho 8.5/10)

The Other 3 Songs...I don't really listen to these, at all. But the first time I heard "Learn the hard way" (track 13), I was pretty impressed.

- Very good

Very good cd, much better than Silver Side Up. Good variety of rock music styles are shown on this cd. Although there's a lot of structure similarity, which is sometimes very obvious so I dropped it from 5 stars to 4, I still find myself very entertained by this cd. Rock on, Nickelback, don't listen to people who don't even like your genre anyway and feel the need to write reviews on cds they would never purchase anyway.
