- Nightwish : "From Wishes To Eternity - Live"

***** - FIVE STARS

--------------------

This DVD smokes. Nightwish is clearly on top of their game when they play live, and this perfromance is one of the best I've ever seen. You can't compare Evanescence's live DVD "Anywhere...." to this. Not even close. Nightwish makes Evenescence look like a garage band when it come to playing live in my opinion. I like Evanescence, but they're just rookies as far as I'm concerned....

This is also much better than Nightwish's othere DVD "End Of Innocence". This is a more mature, a more focused Nightwish. They've made the leap, and I'm very impressed with their product on stage. I wasn't expecting it to be this good. Awesome....

I also recently purchaced The Gathering's live DVD "In Motion", and they also are one of the very best live Goth Metal bands around. I was blwon away with how good The Gathering are. I can't decide which DVD I enjoy more. Both are incredible, and a must purchace for anyone who listens to Goth....

Hopefully, Lacuna Coil will follow the live DVD trend, and release a live DVD of their own. I think after they see this performance by Nightwish, which I'm sure they arleady have, they'll be so impressed, they'll want to do one as well. I can't wait, as they are my favorite Goth Metal band. Nightwish and the Gahering are both a close second...

LACUNA LEGIONS!!!!!

- Dubbed???

After reading the reviews and hearing them for the first time just recently I ordered the DVD. I have no problem with the audio though I can't get it in 5.1. I think variations of the DVD are out there causing such a wide variety of complaints. It says 5.1, but I can only read it in stereo on my surround sound. Still sounds great. Problem is, and NO ONE mentioned this, her vocals do not match up to the video in spots. I have no clue how no one else brought this up. It makes the "Live" performance seem fake to me. Considering how tight the band sounds, it makes you think how much of this is live? I don't mind a band touching up a live show here and there, but it really looks as if she's singing along to a recording sometimes. Maybe it's just editing problems.

Glad I bought it, but a little disappointed.

- Excellent Concert DVD!

I bought all of Nightwish's albums about 8 months ago and they quickly became my favorite band. This is the first concert DVD of any band that I have bought and I must say I am completely satisfied. All the band members, except the bassist, really show the fun and energy they have while performing. I've read where they are going to be recording another concert in mid-October and this one really has me looking forward to it.

I would consider this a required purchase for any Nightwish fan and strongly recommend it to metal fans in general, especially those into Power, Symphonic and/or Goth Metal.

- disapointing

Nightwish is one of my favorite bands on the planet. when i heard about their dvd, i bought it from Helion Records in Brazil while making another purchase. i couldn't wait to get it.

watching them live was very exciting. i had never seen this band, aside from pictures from their website and cd booklets. and the songs were really well performed. my biggest problem was the sound quality. it was terrible!! i am so used to hearing their albums on my stereo with excellent bass, clear vocals, and defined drum beats. but the dvd sound quality didn't allow for any of that.

i was very disapointed. but i suppose it's possible that i just bought a bad copy... in any case, i still love this band more than anything. i just really wish that their dvd was something i could stand watching and listening to.

- Poorly authored

The performance itself was very enjoyable, but the every 2 second jump cuts that are standard in modern music video was very annoying as usual.

My major complaint is the disc itself. Whoever authored it was an idiot. Rather than doing the right thing and deliver a disc in anamorphic widescreen, they delivered a 4:3 presentation matted to 16:9. If you're going to deliver a 4:3 disc, don't screw the customer by cropping the top and bottom of the image, wasting vertical resolution on "black" bars rather than viewable image. On 16:9 displays you get side bars too, so the actual displayed image is perhaps half of the available viewing area.
